if kobe has anything to say about who's the mvp may be decided in lakers/suns series

Kobe was the reason the Lakers lost game 1 and the Lakers are playing better with Kobe on the bench right now. I think Bron has played the Kobe game better than Kobe this season.

blame kobe for lakers lost?....i dont think so. officiating was suns best player. if kobe shoots 50% or better from the field lakers win if you must nit-pick

ah, the officials. they were blamed for a lot of Knicks losses too.

Yes, Kidd was totally hosed.

oohah

Duncan 01-02: 25.5ppg; 12.7rpg; 3.7apg; 2.48bpg; 51%fg
Duncan 02-03: 23.2ppg; 12.9ppg; 3.9apg; 2.93bpg; 51%fg

Duncan is the best power forward to ever play the game. He deserved those mvps.

I'm not disputing Duncan's greatness, he could be considered the best player or MVP in any season. But best player and MVP are two different things. Kidd put those teams on his back and took them to the finals. He did EVERYTHING and he came up with clutch shot after clutch shot. I think he should have gotten it the first year.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

if the hopeless knicks had their own officials it would'nt work

you know lakers could'nt answer tim thomas in game 1

depends how you look at the roster. lakers have many roll players.

kidd taking the team to the finals is not in the MVP voting. ITs a regular season thing.

THe argument for Nash statistically is they have 3 new starters this year, and they have four players all having career years.

When you control the ball and break down defense like he does, and those around you are pileing up stats, its pretty easy to see what he does.

Kobe is a better scorer, and Lebron is a monster himself. THere are many "better players" all of whom are deserving, but this little Canadian is doing the thing in the right system and he is very much the MVP the last two years.

I think Kidd was deserving also but maybe his inconsistant scoring or shooting % bought him down. When Kidd gets cold he can't shoot worth a damm.

But the best point guard in the land.......well thats just another story for another day.

maybe if Steph plays like the seasonist, he might get considered for an MVP as well.

You know, Larry was a 3 time allstar in the ABA.

When you break down the defense and distribute the ball EFFECTIVELY, then your the "seasonist" and make your other players "taste better".

Low and behold, you can even get two MVPs!

I don't care if SeasonistBury ever got an MVP, just play the game on both ends.

Nash play is exceptional, but his contribution to the team is what will get you that award and not necessarily scoring 81 points in a game. Team comes first and individual stats come second. Something a few of our Knicks need to learn about.
I'll never trust this' team again.

THe argument for Nash statistically is they have 3 new starters this year, and they have four players all having career years.

Nash had a career year last season, and he wasn't just playing with 3 new starters-- he was playing with a whole new team. Before then it was inconceivable that a player of Nash's caliber would ever be considered for MVP. Why the leap? Among other things, he came to a new system, coach D'Antoni's system, which was ideally suited to his talents and the talents of others. So how can one so readily credit Nash with all the glory for his team's play? How do we know that Boris Diaw, for instance, wouldn't have had a fantastic breakout season in D'Antoni's system even without Nash? After all, D'Antoni's system is a large part of what made the difference for Nash himself in the first place.

This is just to say that the analyses of Nash's effect on his team that I've seen are almost universally too simplistic and naive. No doubt Nash has a huge impact on his team's level of play, but so does their coach, so does Marion, etc. Nash deserves a lot of credit, but not all of it-- a large chunk of Nash's share probably rightfully belongs to D'Antoni, and to a lesser extent, his still underrated teammates like Marion and Diaw.

On balance, I see Nash on a par with Billups as far as MVP candidacy goes-- firmly second tier. He has no business winning it this season and had no business winning it last season. Simply put, if Nash really deserved to win MVP this season over Dirk, Kobe, LeBron, and Wade, then Stockton was robbed of several MVP awards in his day by his contemporaries. The gap between this season's top players and the MVPs of the early/mid 90s is not as big as the gap between Nash and Stockton, since Stockton matched Nash's prowess on offense while actually playing defense as well. Nash at best is half the player Stockton was. Fantastic player, but not an MVP.

Dude, this is ridiculous. Stockton was a great player, but he played with the other "best power forward ever to play the game." I don't recall many other players on the team looking great because of Stockton. Watch a Suns game before you post something like this, and then get back to me.
