Interesting, I thought Kobe was going to win it this year, esp after the 81 points, but Nash is definitely one of the only players that can just come into a team and make them better (even without Amare).

Great--now we have another offseason of nonstop debating about whether he deserved it!

ya i think last year shaq shouldve won.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

whe you lead a team to a + 30 turnaround in the win column 60 victories total, and a division crown, kinda hard to argue against him not winning
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

I would have voted:

1) Dirk
2) Nash
3) Bron

but it's hard to really argue with Nash.

If Nash were the only change in last year's team and the season before that, I would agree. But Amare was missing for most of the season previous to last.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

really don't want to debate it so i'll just ask you and whomever else this.

What was the Suns record in the 55 games Amare did play in the 03-04 season? Suns site has the records

Can't do the research right now but also take into account that Marbury was traded halfway through the season. Marbury and Stoudamire went to the playoff previous season.

The point is the Suns decided to call it quits on the season before last, and regroup for last season. Smart move.

Nash was definitely a true MVP candidate last year (Though I would have voted Duncan.), but this year is even more remarkable.

Kidd didn't win it. So by that accord -- neither should have the Canadian

Kobe was the reason the Lakers lost game 1 and the Lakers are playing better with Kobe on the bench right now. I think Bron has played the Kobe game better than Kobe this season.

The Lakers have plenty of talent. I hate that argument. The Lakers have a better team without Kobe than the Cavs do without Lebron. Odom and Wade and not much else won 45+ games and made the second round in Wade's rookie year. Odom is a great player who would be 20 and 10 if he touched the ball more. Smush Parker, Kwame Brown, Devean George, Luke Walton, Chris Mihm are all young, versatile, athletic players who defend and pass. There's a reason the Lakers are beating the Suns with Kobe on the bench with foul trouble and a reason the Lakers almost won even with Kobe playing like crap in Game 1 - they're a good team that gets overshadowed by Supastar.

There's no way the Suns would be in the playoffs without Nash. How did Boris Diaw look last year? When was the last time Kurt Thomas led a playoff run? Marion is a tremendous athlete, but he can't create his own shot. Without Nash (assuming Amare was out), the Suns would win 30 games at most.

That said, I still think Dirk elevates the Mavs to Elite status all by himself and has developed into a leader with a killer instinct. I think Dirk is the MVP. He's the player I least want to face with the game on the line.

which was my point. Kidd did it with better stats AND went to the finals twice!!! Nash shouldnt have gotten it last year, but this year I say yes. Suns shoulda sucked without Amare and the barely missed a step with only Marion and role players. Nash has made me a believer.

Yes, but Kidd was playing when Shaq and Duncan were still dominant. The only reason that Nash is winning is that there is no true dominant big man right now and you have a lot of perimeter players who bring different things to the table in competition.

blame kobe for lakers lost?....i dont think so. officiating was suns best player. if kobe shoots 50% or better from the field lakers win if you must nit-pick
