DJ has already suggested
Steve + a #1 pick to Memphis for Eddie Jones (expiring)

NY-Denver
Steve Francis to Denver for Ruben Patterson and a resigned Reggie Evans (about MLE numbers)
Makes alot of sense. We have a defensive 3 and a rebounding 4.

NY_Portland
Steve Francis for Darius Miles and Brian Skinner

Francis trades that would be good out of those mentioned so far:

1. Magette.
2. Eddie Jones.
3. Harrington.
4. Kmart.

Just don't bring in more players than we send out.

Francis for Odom straight up.

Odom doesn't have the injury problems Maggette does, is younger and plays forward where Eddies Jones is old and another guard, is better all around and more versatile than Harrington, and doesn't have the injury problems and won't impede Frye's development as much as KMart.

I doubt this happens, but would be happy if it did. I'd give up Francis and a pick for Odom but doubt this would be enough to do it.

(in order of my preference)

Francis for:
1 - Harrington (5 yrs. $50 mil)
2 - Odom (not likely to happen)
3 - KMart & future protected pick
4 - E. Jones (expiring deal)

i'd be ecstatic to see any 1 of those deals go down.

Yeah, the Francis for Odom is the best deal.

This is one deal that I am sure will go down on draft nite. LA papers have been talking up the need to get Francis out of NY from Brown and to LA. They were more serious about getting Francis then any other team including the Knicks and Cleveland, but didn't have the expiring contracts that the Knicks had to give Orlando. GM wants him, coach wants him and Kobe wants him.

Another rumor I heard on Sporting News radio awhile back was that Brown wanted to trade Francis to Cleveland. The assumption was that he was looking to get Snow and do a some type of sign and trade with Gooden. That was about a month ago though, so who knows. No way do those salaries match up, and Gooden isn't worth that much money either.

No one ever takes account for that when they are trying to make the case against Marbury or Isiah, but I totally agree.

But I am not so much focussing on his numbers as I am on how he played. He was very very aggressive and was giving Marion a rough time. Anytime TT has double digit rebounds, you have to start asking some serious questions.

There is no way LA trades Odom for a small shoot first guard. They have the best shoot first guard, or at least the shootingest shoot first guard in the league. two of those types would be a disaster.

trade francis and #1 pick for eddie jones.

reason: we need some relief. the cap is too out of control. eddie jones is a team player who knows his role. he will be a great bench defender. meanwhile this playoff will determine that memphis needs an impact player and francis is it. ironic that the team that drafted him and traded him would get him back.

then trade marbury for magette and cassell.

reason: don't know if the salary matches and we would probably need to take back another contract ( mccarty?) but hey i would do it. i would commit to sam for three years so he can train and help nate be a better point guard. he is a smart pg who is a difference maker and knows how to win. he is also a good defender even though he has slowed somewhat by age. but he is tough as they come and a much better option than eric snow. magette is not the smartest but he is athletic and will get better. a true sf who is athletic and can do it all. clippers are another team who needs another impact player to enter the very good status. marbury would allow them to at least hang with teams like the spurs and dallas. good scouts would notice than marbury usually has good games against western foes, particularly the spurs and phoenix. a valuable commodity.
