I know things dont look like championship staus with the Knicks, but I am still anticipating the start of the season. I love basketball, it is by far my favorite sport and it has been a long summer without seeing and games. On top of that I have been in Boston for 4 years for college - and I havent been able to watch my Knicks unless it was an NBC game or a Playoff game. So its good to be back here, have MSG, and hopefully this club will show some heart and give us a meaningful season. I just want to see these guys play...

I tell you what, the games can't be any worse than last year. I can't tell you how many games the players gave up on. Only 1 more week until training camp and 2 more until pre-season.

In retrospect, I'm kinda (kinda) glad we lost those games, as they provided us with the bargaining chip for Dice. It's still painful to watch a 10-point lead squandered, however...

He is better than advertised. He is a no-frills CWebb. He just as good maybe stronger. McDyess has been one of my favorites for a long time. Get a shot blocker downlow and the Knicks will return to eastern dominance.

McDyess is looking good and looking hungry and i think we can anticipate a 20-10 season from him at the least. Sprewell and Houston are in their primes and are in excellent shape so i expect just as much from them as i do every year. Hopefully we can expect the leadership and intensity we saw from Sprewell 2 and 3 years ago as well. Weatherspoon is apparently in great shape compared to showing up in training camp last year. Hopefully we can also expect more from Ward and Eisley who claim they are more productive in a starting role. I think this years sleeper could be Eisley. Then there's Williams who is the future of our point guard situation with any luck. I don't know how good we will be this year, but i have high hopes and i think this year will be fun to watch because there have been a lot of changes and a lot to look forward to.

I think McDyess's Defensive presence will create alot more fast break opporunities and easy baskets on the other end for us this year. Look for Houston to drive more to the basket. Van Gundy used to beggg him to do it more and more. I think with Dyess in there Spree and Houston will be awesome driving in. Mcdyess's man will have to double... leaving dice with the easy dish! At least that's how I hope it goes down.... WE MUST DRIVE TO THE BASKET THIS YEAR!!!

Do you really think that Houston will be driving to the basket???? This must be a challenge, cause he has never really gone hard to the hoop before. Now Spree will... he has a bigger set!!

Houston doesn't go to the hole because he isn't a very good ballhandler. Don't give me that he doesn't have a package, because Spree was the one who mailed it in last year once Camby went down again, and Houston has hit big shot after big shot, whether it be regular or post season games. Houston just doesn't do that, it's like asking Spree to play PG, their games just don't fit.

Good observation. I’m one of the people who use to pray Houston would go to the basket more. Then he started doing it and he would turn the ball over. Two seasons ago he had a span of 6-7 games were he turned it over about 5 times per. Then I stopped hoping he would go to the basket. He has trouble controlling the ball when he goes too the basket in traffic. He brings the ball too close to his body and dribbles it off his foot. Since then he’s pretty much stuck with what he’s good at, the J and the pull-up. Obviously he knows his game better that we (Knick fans) do, so he does what he does and ignores people who says he should go to the basket more.

The way I see it, if we have Dyess down low and spree driving - houston should be open to hit the J anyway so why do we need him and spree driving? I would rather have Houston shooting that sweet shot and Spree slashing like he does so nicely - that is what they are good at, that is how they CAN coexist, and that is what will help this team win.

I will check out the new trio in pre-season vs. Boston Oct. 8.

I still expect Houston to be the most one-dimensional player in the league, but that's fine as long as he will do more of what he does best and less of everything else. Spree can do the rest.

the last time i remember houston driving to the hoop on a consistent basis was in '99. if you watch the playoff run, houston was constantly driving to the hoop, either making his shot or getting fouled, or both.

Houston use to go hard to the hoop in his early knicks days but after the miami series he got turned back by Mourning a few times and after that he stopped going to the hoop. He should have never tried to Jam on Mourning what was he thinking.

Yeah...That's what I was thinking...In 99 against Reggie, Allan was taking it to the hoop like a madman! I think he had something to prove then, as the media had hyped up Reggie's 'Knick-killer' mystique ad nauseum...

I hope they hype up every guy Allan has to guard this season, but aside from that, I can't argue with his consistent scoring. He IS money with the J. That's worth 65-70 mil. He really needs to earn the other 30 by moving his feet on defense. Then Spree wouldn't have to cover him on the strong opposing SG all the time while fighting on offense against bigger SF's.

Didn't Houston hit his most memorable shot on a drive against Miami?

Its not like he completely stopped, there are occasions where he goes to the hoop its just not as often as he use to. Houston will be fine come this year he will give you the usual 20 a game that is consistent. But if something lights his fire he will get 22 a game its a question of motivation for him. If challenged he will light anyone up.

I know Dyess, Spree, and Houston will all be fine - its the rest of the team I have questions about.
