Considering the on-going debate regarding who is and isn't an "LB player," I was interested in seeing who we, as Knick fans, would like to bring in. Just throw names out there and briefly comment on 1) how the player fits a need and 2) how attainable the player is. With that criteria, give your top 5 names that you would like to see in a Knick - these can include players in the upcoming draft.
Here is my top 10:

10) JR Smith - not totally sold on him, but Byron hates him and he is quite attainable. A solid shooter/athlete at 2.

9) Eddie Griffin - signed to a great deal but is available for the right package of veterans - perhaps in a Marbury deal. Great shotblocker and impressive athleticism. Doesn't always play hard though.

8) Reggie Evans - very attainable, is an unrestricted free agent. Great hustle and rebounding, can play the 4 or 5.

7) Marcus Banks - Quite attainable as an unrestricted free agent for the MLE. Solid defender, great speed at the point, started to play well at the end of the season.

6) Joel Pryzbilla - is a free-agent but attainable probably only in sign-and-trade. Also has injury concerns. No offensive game, needs to be able to play more minutes, excellent shot-blocker, good size and aggression for guarding the post.

5) Rashard Lewis - attainability is in question but Seattle's seems reluctant to give him the 80 mil contract he wants. Great shooter, excellent post option at SF, really spreads the defense.

4) Rudy Gay - although his stock has fallen a little, he's a very coachable player with high upside on both ends of the court. Great shooting form, can finish in open floor, attainable by moving up to pick #5 if possible.

3) Stephen Jackson - this is a reach from me because he's attainable only if Indiana does poorly in the playoffs and decides to toss Jermaine. Good defender at 2 or 3, can shoot the 3 well and often, can create of the dribble, overall impressive perimeter threat.

2) Shane Battier - attainable depending on package offered but it will be very tough, signed to a thrifty deal but can be replaced by Mike Miller, I think he can be had in a Marbury deal as Bobby Jackson will be gone and Stoudamire is older. great defender at 2 or 3, great shooter from 3, does everything from block shots, steals to rebound the ball

1) Samuel Dalembert - afflicted by injuries towards the end of season, not always happy with Mo Cheeks, I think we'd need to involve several players, maybe another team. Perhaps Marbury and David Lee for Dalembert, Korver and Ollie. Great shot blocker, excellent mobility and help defense, improving post defense, grdually improving jumpshot.
Sh-t in the popcorn to go with sh-t on the court. Its a theme show like Medieval times.

battier -- no.

dalembert -- i wish.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

If by "no" you mean yes, then you're on the right track. Provide your list.

I would pick maybe one player from that list, Battier. My list would be way to different.

1. Speedy Claxton

2. Battier

Thats my list. Not to long.

I just want clutter removed from the team.
Marbury
Francis
Mo Taylor
Jalen Rose
Q-Rich

I want 5 players gone and nothing in return maybe just picks I'll take second round picks for them. Buyouts are optional also.

If we could get rid of players just for future picks that would be ideal. I don't see it happening though.

Larry and isiah have to sit down and decide first who they want to bring back. I'm down to get speedy clax, but only if the knicks get rid of marbs and Francis. I want Taylor and jalen bought out. There is no sense in keeping either.

Frye, butler and lee have to be looked as fixtures and need heavy playing time next year. Malik needs to be the new herb Williams.

I just want to say no to adding more bigmen. I feel the knicks aleady have a good mix of guys. Knicks already have Jerome James to be a shot blocker. Theo ratliff is never gonna be what he was in Philly nor will he ever be healthy. Take Jerome James out the post and give him the role as chief enforcer.

I wanna see craw emerge as a leader and dictate the game and lead the offense from the 2 guard spot just like ray Allen does. Speedy would be nice next to craw.

Nate off the bench would be great in a starks role.

Knicks have to refocus and brown has to set roles for his team. Yeah get marbs and Francis out of dodge for nothing...that would do it for me. Add speedy clax and that's it.

I believe in q woods but if the knicks can get a guy that can keep woods on the bench the I'm all for it.

Frye, woods, curry, speedy and craw do it for me. Lee, butler and jj off the bench backing up the fwd spots work for me. Nate and q-rich backing up the guards works for me. Whoever else can fill the lower slots but this formula works for me. All brown needs to do is out these guys in the best position to win.

I'm fired up! Let's start the new season already.

Battier would be a great piece. He's the type of team player and sixth-man type player that we should be targetting. Reggie Evans would also be very nice.

Overall, very good and well thought out post, codeunknown. :)
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I think we should target players on teams who missed the playoffs and/or underachieved.

Reggie Evans-defense rebounds, hes a beast, we need him.

2s:
Morris Peterson (solid, reliable, iron man)
Bonzi Wells (defense, rebounds solid scorer)
Stephen Jackson (if we could get rid of Francis for him I'd do it)
Michael Pietrus (not a starter, but young with loads of potential)

3s:
Rashard Lewis
Jared Jeffries
Al Harrington
Paul Pierce (a brother can dream can't he?)
Wally Szcerbiak (if Steph stays. get him straight up for Mo Taylor. He only needs to play team D, very good player, and NY has NO shooter!!)
Shane Battier (solid solid player, rebounds plays d, great compliment to Curry and Frye.
