^ That basically sums up the Marbury matter. Wolves and Knicks fans. And when it's all said and done, here is basically the 1 trade that both sides would probly agree to and more or less be happy with:

To NY:

Marko Jaric
Troy Hudson (probly cut)
Eddie Griffin
06 Lottery Pick

To MN

Stephon Marbury
Denver Pick

We'd be trading away about 60 Million and taking on about the same (probly the only way Taylor agrees to it, but we get rid of a headcase, and Isiah could do wonders with that lotto pick IMO. A guy like Shelden Williams is exactly what we need at PF.

I'd love to get Hassell, but I don't think they'd give us the lotto pick if they gave him up.

I'd gladly take Hassell over the lotto pick if we could sign a guy like Reggie Evans, but I'd think A.) Denver has the inside track on him and B.) He'll cost more than the MLE.

I think we needa go with youth, like the Rangers. Have that star combo with Francis and Crawford, and surround them with hardworking youths.

Curry doesn't count. He's a POS IMO.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

you need to throw in another $3 mil in salary for '06/'07 from MIN to match up dollar wise.

EDIT:

Just checked the #'s. It would come around to about 14 Million VS. 18+ Million.

So that should pass the 125 % rule.

Trade works.

If you took out the picks they might do it.

I don't think it has much do about salary cap issues than, the fact about real dollars. What Taylor is saying hey pick up about half of his remaining salary. So this deal could get done per the Owner if the Knicks add a significant amount of cash to deal. Knicks shouldn't send any picks it is not a salary dump since they are asked to send cash.
Basically your trade plus about $37-$43 million in cash. I don't know what the maximum amount of cash value that the CBA allows you but my guess per Taylor none. This is a Dolan decision pure and simple, question is Marbury that bad that I am willing to pay him hard money to play for another team? Having Shandon Anderson sitting on Riley's bench is one thing but to have Marbury on the starting line of the T-Wolves may be too much for Dolan to stomach. Per all reports I seen, that he likes Marbury.

I included that RGM link b/c it shows that TWolv fans, mods included, would take that deal.

It's about as fair as you can get IMO.

Max $$$ we can send is like 3 mill.

And Taylor was basically saying that he would only take on Marbury if they werent adding so much salary.

In this trade it's a salary wash...

Taylor would be in favor of making a deal with the Knicks for unhappy point guard Stephon Marbury, but said the only way that could work is for the Knicks to pick up a big part of Marbury's salary.

"Yeah, it isn't that we couldn't use somebody like that. We certainly could with his experience, and we know him," Taylor said. "It's that he was signed at a salary that's going to cause us problems. So it would be difficult, it would have to be one of those things where New York would have to say that they really want to get rid of the player and could help us in some financial way to do it. We wouldn't know until this summer if that would even be a possibility."

Has nothing to with adding salary to the cap. Examine the piece. The man wants the cold cash to pay Steph.

I think he is willing to trade him for the likes of Jaric, Griffin, and probably this year's or a future 1st round pick but yeah this is a money to money issue. Despite what you think of Marbury, he put butts in the seat. Whether you come to boo or cheer. Dolan has to look at this carefully. That may be too much to chew.

So then this trade shouldnt even be much of an issue.........per what you just said.

And I know he puts asses in the seats.

But I'd bet my left nut the overal feeling of Knick fans would be relief once he's traded.........

i think an "understood deal" between the Knicks & TWolves where Marbury gets bought out, & some good assets come back to the Knicks in a separate deal, could be worked out... here's what i would offer:

Jerome James & SA's pick for Mark Blount or Marko Jaric & the #7 pick
(MIN gets cap relief w/this deal believe it or not)

Marbury gets bought out & signs w/MIN

Knicks get rid of 2 guys that haven't worked out, & they get a lottery pick to save Isiah's face somewhat after the Eddy Curry trade fiasco... MIN gets the star PG they want to keep KG happy, & they get him at a bargain of a price... everyone's happy.
