We don't have the pieces, probably, but that hasn't stopped us before... something like Jalen Rose and Channing Frye might get the job done. Or we could go all in and take Webber, too. It'd be a typical Knicks move, for sure...

With His 76ers' Future Hazy, Iverson Shows Up Late

By JOHN ELIGON
Published: April 19, 2006
PHILADELPHIA, April 18 — At tip-off Tuesday night, star players were missing from the benches of both the Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers. But the circumstances were far different.

Without the team's permission, Philadelphia's Allen Iverson and Chris Webber did not arrive at the arena until just around game time. Players are generally expected to be at the arena at least 90 minutes before the start of a game.

The Nets' Jason Kidd was not here because the team decided to leave him in New Jersey to work out and rest for the playoffs, which start this weekend.

The Sixers won, 91-88, in what was essentially a meaningless game — the Nets will be the No. 3-seeded team in the Eastern Conference and the Sixers were out of playoff contention. Iverson and Webber, each nursing an injury, were not scheduled to play.

But Iverson's absence at tip-off on fan appreciation night will fuel speculation about whether his 10-year career in Philadelphia will come to an end. In interviews with the news media a day earlier, Iverson and Billy King, the Sixers' president, were ambiguous about the future.

But King was visibly upset with Iverson and Webber on Tuesday night. "I'm not sitting here worrying about where they are, O.K.?" King said before the game, using a profanity and adding that he had a bad team. "It's going to be addressed, they're going to be fined."

King appeared just as angry in a postgame interview and said changes would be made in the off-season. Iverson was in the locker room after the game, but he left without speaking to reporters.

On Monday, Iverson, who has spent his entire career with the Sixers, said he would not request a trade, but he also did not seem opposed to leaving.

"I want to be a Sixer, but it's all about if the organization wants me to be here," Iverson was quoted as saying in The Philadelphia Daily News. "I haven't changed about wanting to be here, but, honestly, I want what's best for me, and I owe a lot to the organization, so I want what's best for the franchise as well."

Drama has not been an issue for the Nets as they prepare for the playoffs.

Richard Jefferson, the starting small forward, was in uniform but also sat out the game.

Coach Lawrence Frank said that Kidd would not play in Wednesday night's season finale against the Knicks and that he planned to rest other starters as well.

"We're just getting ready to get in playoff mode," Frank said.

REBOUNDS

Vince Carter scored 16 points to surpass Bernard King for the most points by a Net in a season. ... The Nets signed guard Derrick Zimmerman and forward John Thomas on Tuesday for the final two games of the season. The signings and the Nets' decision to keep the reserve guard Jeff McInnis off the active roster signal that the team will most likely part with McInnis.... The only question remaining for the Nets this season is what team will they play in the first round of the playoffs. Seeded No. 3, the Nets will play the No. 6 team. Heading into Wednesday night's final regular-season games, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Chicago Bulls, the Indiana Pacers and the Washington Wizards are all potential opponents.

Reasonable -- yes.

Possible -- no.

First of all, we'd have to get rid of Marbury and/or Francis.

And probly Nate too.

AND lots of $$$ in expirings.

AND maybe Channing Frye.....

Would I do it?

Pfff, ya of course.

But still..........not gonna happen.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

AI would be a dream come true, but it's never gonna happen... he's going to retire a Sixer imho.

but just for argument's sake, since i can't fargin sleep & i'm bored outta my skull, i'd do this:

Francis, Frye, Nate, Jalen, Mo T & 2 1st round picks for AI & CWebb.

then Marbury to MIN for Jaric, Hudson & Hassell

C - Curry / Butler / Big Turd
PF - CWebb / Malik / Lee
SF - Q Woods / Hassell
SG - Craw / Q Rich
PG - AI / Jaric
IR - Hudson

between AI & Craw, there'd be alot of ankles being broken in MSG.

ok, that was good for a **** & a giggle i guess.

honestly, you'd be lucky to get CWebb w/that offer (considering he has less money left on his deal than Marbury does)... it would take a whole heckuva lot more than that to get AI.
