So, it looks like we're locked in to no.21 with Denver and no.29 with San Antonio...

Denver could fall to 20, but they'd have to lose both games against non-playoffs teams and the Lakers would have to win their only game. San Antonio could conceivably fall to 28, but with the top Western seed riding on it, I doubt it.

So, who do we take?

I like the idea of taking Boone or Hilton Armstrong at 21

then maybe go for a SG or pure PG at 29. Who's out there? Any chance Boone falls to 29 and we can get a guard at 21? Anyone want to draft a pure PF or pure SF and who?

Sorry, the season is cooked and I need something to look forward to. We got Nate and Dlee with picks 21 and 30 last year, hopefully we can get two similar contributors in the draft this year. I really hope they don't trade the damn picks.

the chances of both of these picks being used on players for us are slim. one or both will be packaged in some type of deal on draft night.

sigh...but, but, what if Brown retires by then and Isiah realizes that the only thing he does right is draft?

Assuming we don't trade the picks for another underachieving stiff with a huge long term contract, I predict we draft 2 career role players who most of the board will build up to be all stars before they even play a summer league game.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

I take it you're refering to Lee and Nate as role players? But, seriously, aren't these the kind of role players you want and NEED to win? they both play their butts off, hustle, rebound, defend, pass, score and they're great teammates. I mean, what the hell is wrong with that? If we had 10 guys like Lee and Nate and only two guys like Curry, Marbury, Francis, don't you think we'd be in much better shape?

edit: a think a big difference between Nate and Lee vs Craw and Curry is that the former played winning college ball and know how to win. Curry and Craw were baptized under fire and have only experienced losing. Craw might be learning how to win - Curry clearly is not.

sorry, I guess I felt the term "career role players" was derogatory. but I think this team needs more guys who KNOW their role.

and who cares if the fans get excited about them, they should be. Nate and Lee bring us closer to being a winning team than Francis and Marbury. Isiah should pay attention to the excitement the guys he's drafted have brought and keep the picks.

this Saer Sene dude sounds intriguing

NBA Comparison: Samuel Dalembert

Strengths: An absolutely jaw dropping physical specimen with his combination of size, length, strength, athleticism and mobility ... Very disruptive defensively and rebounds the ball well ... Has a 7'8" wingspan making him a force as a shot blocker ... Already getting playing time at the Senior level for Pepinster and getting decent minutes and stats ... Runs the floor well ... Great hands, has no problems catching the ball or rebounding ... Extremely agile, he can fall down on the court like a cat, not heavily like most big man ... Very coach-able and a hard working kid ...

Weaknesses: Still doesn't have much offensive game to speak of ... Only began playing basketball in 2003 so he's still learning the game ... Must continue working hard to maximize his great potential ...

if the Spurs pick can be packaged to move up into the teens and take Rondo, could take a flyer on him at 20,21

8 Rules for drafting a Knick:

1.) If you can't pronounce his name, NO.

2.) He has to be too small to play his position (ie: 6-6 @ PF)

3.) He has to be taken too early on the board, in front of future All-Stars (ie: Weiss in front of Artest)

4.) It can't be a Top 5 Pick (and if it is, we have to trade it away for unwanted players)

5.) It CANNOT be used in a trade, unless the player coming in happens to be Chris Webber...........

6.) It cannot be used to draft a steal.

7.) It cannot be used to draft the crowd favorite......even if he's the BPA.

8.) And finally...........if by some coincidence it happens to be a GOOD draft pick, the rule is he MUST be traded within 1 year for Theo Ratliff........
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Anyone get the feeling we gonna trade for Jermain O'neal?

And use Frye.

And Jermain keeps getting hurt.

Its a bad feeling.

I'd take Boone and use the 29th on an international prospect. We don't have the roster spots to keep 2 draft picks on the roster anyway. This would be a good time to take a chance on a guy who might stay overseas for another year or 2.

how sad... this franchise could have been rebuilt by now. We SHOULD have a top 3 pick as WELL as pick 32

package both picks along w/Marbury & ship him the F out of town... hopefully you can get back a talented young player in the process, or at least some good role players w/shorter term deals.

I think the best bet is to send Marbs and our 2 #1s to Minn for Jaric, Hudson, Hassle and their #1. They break up a logjam of contracts and KG gets his Starbury back. Let them have each other.
Then trade Francis, Jaric and the Sota #1 for Josh Smith to the Hawks. They have no PGs and can absorb money back as they have about $20mm in cap space after Harrington leaves for the Bulls. They also get the #7 pick in the draft do so.
Knicks waive Troy Hudson

Basicly looking for addition by subtraction. Dump crap, give the Hawks what they cant get in FA and we lose Marbury/Francis and our picks for Josh Smith and Trenten Hassle. Not ideal but its a step in undoing the mess thats here. Hell.. its downright ugly but we have to find ways to start this purge and his at least gives us a shot at something in Josh Smith.

fish, i like that plan alot, but i think it's more likely you can make that deal for Al Harrington however (minus the MIN pick)... i would be perfectly fine with that... then pick a shotblocker w/the MIN pick like Patrick OBryant.
