KEEP JAMAL!!! I don't like Al Harrington either, but if we could get Boozer relatively cheaply, that's a great move.
I would also try to keep Francis, so long as he understands we're committed to winning and think he can be a big part of that.
i agree with everyone about jamal. he's changed his game and he has shown growth. but i'm not married to anybody on the team. i'm not concerned with the names on the back, just the one on the front. i don't think jamal will get traded but let's examine the deal i proposed...
bucher and others have said boozer could be had for a sg. so i looked down our roster and examined our guards. marbury and francis would not go well with sloan. quentin's trade value is as high as mine...so that leaves jamal. a young, exciting player, that can play both positions, hit big shots, and this year, has showed he receptive to coaching. so you ask, why move him? b/c even tho jamal has progressed nicely, boozer would almost be our best player if he comes here. and he's a pf that can give you minutes at center. he's better than frye, he's better than curry...and he's better than jamal. those 2 #1's, let's be real here, those two #1's are at 21 and a borderline second rounder. the objective is to make the team better, not hold on to favorite players. in fact, i'm afraid utah may laugh at us with this offer. boozer's knock has been his health, but he's healthy now and look at the MONSTER #'s he's putting up on a team trying to make the playoffs, not a team with nothing to play for.
the objective of my crackheaded offseason is to REVAMP the frontline and build around that. you need a good, solid frontline to legitimately win in this league. guards are easier to find. frye can't play any defense, and neither can curry. i'm not sold on harrington either but he would give us another sf/pf guy that's only 26. it also gives us a nice defensive balance throughout the lineup, especially from eddie jones. if mo+nate doesn't get harrington, maybe quentin would...but again, quentin's trade value is in the sh tter. our frontcourt of harrington, boozer, and eddy with frye off the bench are about 24-26 years old. that's not bad.
these combinations of moves do leave us with jalen + eddie as expiring deals to move, as well as lee to combine in another possible deal.
hey, it's for sh t and giggles since the chances of any of these moves happening are slim.
i'm afraid guys like jamal, quentin, and malik are definitely looking better to the coaches...and to us b/c they're buying in and playing hard. jamal has actually helped on the court so he's playing well, but ultimately, everything is magnified and glorified b/c we took the basics of listening to coach and trying hard for granted.
