Hornets To Lock Up Speedy?

NewsOK.com - Hornets guard Speedy Claxton is set to open up contract talks on a long-term deal this week.

Claxton is a 6th man of the year candidate and will meet with Hornets brass over dinner on Wednesday with his agent Bill Duffy.

The Hornets have made clear that they hope to keep the point guard who is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer

if the knicks promise to make speedy a starter, I don't see why he would not wait to see what other options there are, I think he is better than a backup, although not better than paul.. He can start elsewhere..

maybe geting speedy isnt such a good idea, maybe we sould use less of the mle on a less desired pg instead of using it all on him. like marcus banks or someone like that, at least that way we can be sure to keep butler, and woods, which I think we should do.

i agree with u on keeping woods and butler, but i also would like to see a pg rotation of jay williams, speedy claxton, and nate robinson next year.

if there is a way to make all that happen, thats wat we should do.

Speedy has the offensive freedom in NOK he wont kave here and frankly a better chance to make the play-offs as well.

Starting vs winning may matter to guys like Crawford and Curry but for Speedy he may want to play with guys he knows can and will compete.

I know we are all Knick fans and wants what's best for our team..But if you guys think that players are coming here to play for Larry Brown especially at point guard , think again...

^^ why would they not want to come? u believe that this year killed any hope of players playing for brown?

marbury did not want to listen he wanted to be starbury again...claxton and jay williams are not like that...they will listen.

Just in case you missed it...Larry's feud with players in the press, not just Marbs, got lots of attention around the league...not good attention either...This team was made fun of by everyone who watches basketball..so free agents who have a chance to sign anywhere, are now going to come here knowing Larry is here after this past year and after his antics at the Olympics? Really?

so are you saying NY will have no free agent signings?

do you have proof of this league-wide hate of Larry Brown? On ESPN Marbury was voted BY THE PLAYERS as the most overrated player in the league. That says to me there is a decent size population in the NBA that enjoys Larry Brown bashing Steph.

The Knicks would probally have to pay up to get players...If the money is equal, I really don't see people signing here...It's not like we are winning and the drama will be sure to continue next year..

So thats is going to make free agents come here..

The only guy I think we have a shot at is Harrington via a sign and trade and that because he is from this area and he will be getting paid to come here...
