Crawford, Wilcox Named NBA Players of the Week

NEW YORK, April 10 - The New York Knicks' Jamal Crawford and the Seattle SuperSonics' Chris Wilcox today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, April 3 through Sunday, April 9.

Behind Crawford's averages of 26.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.25 steals and two game-winning jumpers, the Knicks went 3-1 versus Eastern Conference foes Washington, Cleveland, Indiana and Boston. On April 5, Crawford capped off a 37-point effort with a game-winning jumper to lead the Knicks past the Cavaliers 96-94. On April 7, he connected on a jumper with less than a second on the clock to defeat the Pacers 98-96.

Wilcox led the SuperSonics to a 3-0 week, averaging 23.0 points on .750 shooting, 15.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists. In a 104-87 win over Houston on April 4, Wilcox posted 26 points and a career-high 24 rebounds, becoming the first Sonic since Shawn Kemp on Nov. 15, 1995 to record a 20-point/20-rebound game. His 24 rebounds were the most by a Sonic since Jack Sikma grabbed 25 boards on Feb. 10, 1983. After averaging 4.5 points and 3.6 rebounds in 48 games with the Clippers this season, Wilcox has posted 15.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game since joining the Sonics on Feb. 23.

Wilcox trying to go after that money. Sadly, he waits until contract year. If it was up to me all these guys would be playing on one year contracts. It would be some of the greatest ball ever see.

I'm with you on that. At the very least the teams should be granted a team option after the third year on all contracts.
