Jack Keefer, who has coached high school basketball for 34 years and Greg Oden for four, has accumulated some keen observations of the 7-foot, 260-pound giant who seems destined for stardom in college and the NBA. "Most people think Greg will go directly to the NBA after his freshman year at Ohio State,'' said Keefer, Oden's coach at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis. "But I wouldn't be at all surprised if he chose to stay at Ohio State for three or four years.

From the same article

"I don't feel I'm ready for the NBA. I'm looking forward to college. Sometimes I get pushed around by 6-3 kids. I need to get quicker and stronger and gain more weight. I relate to Dwight Howard's game. He is a great rebounder, but he does things I want to do. My game is early in development, and he is young, too, but he is way more advanced than me.''

- Oden

If the above is true, getting pushed around by 6-3 guys, i'm not sure Oden is better than Curry...

I've read a few articles about Oden. Seems to me that the guy is the real quiet, introverted type who may need a lot of sheltering. Spending some time in college may buffer the full-on limelight experience of media fury he will have entering the NBA.

More power to Greg Oden. The NBA needs more players like himself who cherish the chance to better themselves and their abilities in college instead of coming out one and done. If Oden isn't blowing steam then more power to him.

Totally agree! Imagine how much further along Dwight Howard's offensive moves would be if he just went to college for a few years! He'd problably be averaging 23pts right now as opposed to 15 on a terrible team because he doesn't have the moves to create for himself yet.

I'll believe Oden isn't coming out when the 2007 draft starts and he's not the first pick. He hasn't even gone to school yet, how can he say he'll stay more than one year? What if he hates college?

Exactly. NO player is going to publicly say before day 1 of college "I'm leaving school as soon as I can get millions of $ in the NBA"

Assiah is a jinx and needs to be removed from office as head of b-ball operations..

why would the knicks pick a true blooded piston to run the the b-ball team???
