Dear KG,

While we would love to have you, we are not in trust our Isiah would not overpay even for you.

And Basis of having you and Steph is a nice fairytale, the problem is I don't trust Steph.

For all his talent, for all the words, I just don't trust him. You take him. Im sure Steph would try to wedge you against Larry and that just does not make for championships.

We really don't want much back. Marko I assume, and what ever.

We can tolerate Steph coming back and torching us for 40 once a year, but our team defense will win out and the game will be ours. Steph wins with 40, but the knicks gains a vicotry.

But you take him, and good luck!

GARNETT: GET ME STEPH
By MARC BERMAN

March 27, 2006 -- MINNEAPOLIS - Stephon Marbury and Kevin Garnett each spoke longingly yesterday about playing together again. However, Marbury wants the reunion in New York. Garnett wants it in Minnesota. The latter is likelier.

In candid remarks, Garnett was wistful about his Marbury days, saying they had an oncourt "connection," and would've won a title had Marbury not forced a trade to the Nets.

In his strongest remarks yet about his displeasure with the team's 29-41 record, Garnett said after Minnesota's 98-94 victory at Target Center he will push owner Glen Taylor to make significant upgrades this summer to make Minnesota a legitimate contender again. Insiders say Marbury is high on his agenda.

Because of Garnett, the Wolves might be the lone team willing to take Marbury off Larry Brown's hands. Marbury guided the Wolves to two straight playoff berths in Marbury's first two years (1996-97). The Knicks have interest in Garnett, as does everyone, if he goes on the market.

Asked if he'd want to play again with Garnett, Marbury said, "In New York, that would be great. Playing back with Kevin, that would be something, that would be talked about forever. I think for the NBA it would be great also. Because you get to have two guys reunited from when they were younger, when they were predicted to be [John] Stockton and [Karl] Malone."

Garnett said, "I never had a problem with Steph on the court. I'm here in Minnesota. I always let him know: I'm going to be in Minnesota. He's always let me know he's going to be in New York. So we've got a problem."

Marbury was coy when asked about returning to Minnesota, offering three straight no comments. However, later, he did not seem broken up by the idea.

"If I get traded there, I can't do anything about that," Marbury said. "It's a business. That I have no control over."

Marbury and Garnett have resumed a friendship since their breakup.

"I haven't spoken to him about it, but I know how he is," Marbury said "He'd like it."

If the Knicks traded Marbury to Minnesota, they'd need point guard Marko Jaric and perhaps defender Trenton Hassell in a package. To make the deal work, the Knicks would have to take back $17M in salary. The Knicks inquired about Jaric at the trade deadline.

"I can't take any more of these rebuilding stages," Garnett said. "I've always said I think I'm worth being listened to."

Garnett feels he'd have a ring had Marbury stayed.

"Absolutely. I never thought anything different," Garnett said. "We were both young, and we'd had a decade of adding pieces.

"You need two guys to connect. The chemistry Steph and I shared basketball-wise is one I shared with Spree (Latrell Sprewell) and Sam Mitchell. I don't think he made that connection with anyone else. I sacrificed. He sacrificed. We made it work."

Marbury is unsure they'd have won a ring, but sounded regretful.

"You had two guys who knew how to play basketball and loved the game," Marbury said. "That's how I thought it was going to be everywhere. When you're young, you really don't know. That's why it's called experience."

Brown said it's "sad" they ever broke up. "I think it was a perfect match," he said.

We'll give him a fur coat for a going away present.

They can keep their no. 8 pick also. Lets not get greedy now. Baron Davis might be on the market.

isiah will likely get him too. Then we can corner the market on the overpaid strong 6-3 shoot first pg guard and then then dole them out as need be. IN a few years Ben Gordon will be available. But he has to thicken up a bit.

ummm.....you're missing about 7 Million $.

And why in the hell would they give us their pick? Steph's value is LOWWWWWWW.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I could live with it....but what does that mean? Jaric is starting at point? More mind games with Brown? Steve Francis is here too....

Let me back up....I like Jaric but that dude is not a point guard. He is a shooting guard that can handle a little. HE IS NOT A POINT GUARD!!!!!

Let me back track again....Marcus Banks is a really good young player. Young player! Brown supposedly wants seasoned vets. Marcus is a faster Marbury. What about Nate? Marcus and nate and Francis oh my! Q, Craw and Jaric oh my!

Something has got to give with all this BS.

by the way.......Knicks should try to get KG rather than think of trading Marbs over there.....Minnesota doesn't have anyone that will actually make the Knicks better. Only more of the same stockpiling of players that do the same things.

steph value is not low to minny, now with garnett breathing down their necks, do you think they would let that pick stand in the way of making garnett happy? heck they might as well trade him if that is the case..

Steph for just a collection of garbage & no draft pick? no thanks... unless that pick is included, or Ricky Davis AND Griffin at the very least, i'm not interested.

So, what's the difference between Marb and Jaric then? Besides the obvious?

I like A trio of Baron, Steph, and Fransis on the court at the same time.

We can hire Sam Mitchell and he can threaten to kick the piss out of them if the don't play.

Marbury is a gifted scorer, Jaric is not. Marbury can penetrate, Jaric cannot. Marbury dribbles the ball at a point guard skill level, Jaric does not.

Jaric is a better rebounder, a decent defensive player, and an okay shooter.

Stephon Marbury gets more assists.

I like Jaric, but he is not the answer to anything.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

No but I believe Jaric type players are the answer. Your 100% right, Marko Jaric isnt fixing this. But maybe if we can ship 3-4 guys out and bring in Jaric, Reggie Evans, Marcus Banks and Al Harrington the culture changes because those players are more focused on playing a role and playing team ball. Those are just names out of a hat. I use them because I think they are attainable and realistic for what we have to offer. We need to find a way to make Jalen Rose and Mo T just go away. Marbury isnt buying so adios, his choice not mine. Keep Francis... you need at least one scorer.

What I like about Harrington, Jaric and Banks is they can all defend at least 2-3 different positions. Harrington isnt a world renowned defender but he's expressed an interest in being here, he DOES defend and he's a great guy. Good hard worker

I so don't want another season like this one. I don't have a lot of faith that that's not what's in store however. One thing I feel pretty sure about is that Steph+Larry=continued disaster. If Larry's staying, Steph should go IMO. I'm not even getting into the deeper questions/issues here, I'm just saying that it's time to pull the plug on that rotten combo.

B.S. You guys are LOST. JARIC? He can't help his team win NOW, what the HECK is he gonna do here? There's no way in the world that kind of trade makes any sense. If there's no pick, then why make the trade? This isn't a case of addition by subtraction like so many seem to think. We don't lose cuz Steph isn't a good enough PG. We lose cuz the whole TEAM never gelled on defense. We get better defenders ie defensive swingman, shotblocker/rebounder and a pure shooter and that would help the team. The players Minny has won't help us at all, they haven't done a damn thing for Minny either. Let's get real people. Don't let your hatred for Steph, cloud the truth. He's still a productive player when allowed to do his thing, which I might add was the only time we won this season. So get the HELL of his back.

But what if the coach is signed for longer than Steph, he's making it clear that he's not going to allow Steph to "do his thing," and the air is getting more and more poisonous between them, potentially wrecking the foothold LB is trying to get with the younger players? What then?

We know we can with him, and without.

We have the worst, or second worse record in the league.

Its not about Marko, its about the other guys, or the subraction of a personality that might be adding to the prohibitive nature of this team ability to get focused on defense.

I would prefer to agree with you. Seriously. I am a fan who would rather see Steph play into the team concept.
