Two words. David Lee.

Need a huge offensive board? No problem.

Screwed it up and you need another one? Im your man.

Career 50% ft shooter, but you need two huge free throws? Hand me the ball.

Need me to beat the Suns by myself while my shooting is derided around the league? Whats my name?

Seems to me this guy steps up huge every time his number is called.

Heart, fire, grit, determination, athleticism, clutch play. thats what we need in a team leader.

I say we follow the Leemobile, see where it leads us. Hell with Tyrus Thomas! We got David Lee!

if he wasnt a rookie, I would say make this guy team captain for next year, start him and play him all-star minutes.

Guarantee, if he gets 35+ a night, we're talking about 12 points 12+ boards, 3-4 assists a couple steals easy. Needs to work on his blocking but otherwise I think he's the perfect starting pf next to Curry or Butler. Bring Channing off the bench for now. I think Frye will end up being Pau Gasol Jr, but Lee's game is more important to us.
Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream things that never were and ask why not?

I'm with you. He's a real Power Forward, and a good one.
Channing is more like a tall, slow 3.

Also, HE CARES! He's the only guy that could have played on the 90's Knicks.

Lee is a more athletic version of Rose without the jumper. I don't think he can really make it in a half court system. As a 3 he is horrible, because he is too slow to break down anyone from the triple threat position. Btw, the Knicks did have someone like that on their team his name was Anthony Bonner. Athletic 3/4 player with no jumpshot to speak of, Bonner was a much better athlethe though. He cared about wins and losses too but he wasn't any team captain. LOL, you silly...

i say make Q Rich & Malik captains... you can't appoint a 2nd year player that role unless he's a stud player.

i would give it to malik and that's it. he's got the age over everyone and he's been on championship teams.

Yeah, if Q Rich even try to talk about he knows about winning someone needs to slap him silly. Getting to play along Nash, Stoudamire and JJ last season doesn't make you a leader.
Malik got 2 NBA rings, and a NCAA championship ring. The guy was important piece to both NBA rings. See his work against Shaq and LJ during their first run. Just look at bench, he is always in Frye and Lee's ear. There is real chemistry among them. Classic example for me was during the Pistons game, when Frye missed an assignment and Brown was hot on him in the Timeout and Malik and Lee just started rubbing Frye head.

Malik's not good enough to be the only team captain... this team needs a captain for the bigmen & a captain for the guards... Q Rich is the only guy who's shown any sort of leadership whatsoever this year, other than possibly Nate... just because you haven't been on a champion doesn't mean you can't lead... Oakley, Ewing, LJ, Allan were all great captains & none of them won a ring either.

I was talking about winning games period. The closest Q Rich won anything was last season. Before that he was part of the Clipper team, lets not make him sound like he walk out of the 90 Bulls, or Lakers. And for the record, please don't state that Allan was a great captain like it was written in stone. If you call Jew bashing part of leadership, then yeah he was on top of the matter. Houston was given that title mostly by Dolan and Layden like Isiah and Lenny gave Marbury title of captain. Besides, what leadership has Q Rich shown? Everyone jumps down Marbury and Francis' throats yet this guy has does the impossible he has made Tim Thomas and Shandon Anderson look like prodigies. Q Rich work with Curry during the off season, don't make me laugh work on your jumper, work on your family issues, your relationship issues which seem to have major distractions this year.

no doubt he's fallen way short of his own expectations this year, but he's been the only G on this team to speak up & get on his teammates for their lack of passion... our "star" hasn't done that all year long... he's too busy trading barbs w/his head coach in the papers... btw, i don't believe i was making Q Rich out to be anything more than what everyone knows he is... but if you ask me which of the Knick G's i'd like to keep on this team, other than Jamal Crawford, i take Q Rich in a heartbeat.

as for Allan Houston, keep the "jew bashing" discussions out of this... i'm talking about performance on the court & how they conducted themselves off of it in practice... in that sense, Allan Houston was a quintessential pro & a good model for any other Knick to follow... if not for his injuries, he'd have gone down as 1 of the greatest Knicks of alltime offensively in my book.

Only one real Knick captain and his name was Willis Reed. Ewing finally proved to be worthy of captain, now they are giving it away like crackerjack prizes. sigh...

Listen I am not going to bash Houston, I just think just because this season and the last has been bad, you can't rewrite history. 2001-2002 weren't they Allan's team, how about the 2002-2003 teams, the Knicks got the 7th and 9th picks. How's that for leadership. When Houston was given the franchise he folded like a losing poker hand. He was unable to deal with Spree taking shots at him, asking the Knicks to trade Houston after the 2001 playoff diaster. The injury, I sometimes wonder how bad it really is, his game started to really disappear when he was asked to play more defense after Spree was traded. I think he couldn't handle the pressure. He seem to enjoy life on the bench more and relish the role as Captain of the bench.

As far as Q Rich goes, the Orlando game was bad for Marbury and Francis, but when you put up a 0pt 0 assist 1 rebound effort in 21+ minutes while your former understudy scores 10 points, grabs 7 boards and has 2 big drives on you including a dunk. Don't get mad at Marbury, Curry or anymore else get mad at yourself. Look in the mirror.

Listen I am not going to bash Houston,

i love how you follow that up w/a post bashing Houston.

anyway, i agree w/u that Q doesn't have credibility getting on any teammates for how they were playing when he wasn't doing anything either... but at least he's showing that he cares about the way they're playing, & Curry deserves a big time yelling at for the way he loses focus on the floor all too often... since the guy who's supposed to be saying something isn't doing anything, i guess it's up to Q to do it... i'm sick of watching Stephon smiling & joking around w/guys on the other team (Ricky Davis the other night), or sitting on the bench w/a towel over his head while his team is getting blown out by teams the likes of the Magic & the Hawks... let's see him step up & be a leader for once in his life instead of bickering w/other teammates or the head coach.

QRich? Why? cause LB likes him? He's one of the main reasons we stink so bad. I want my captain to be able to sink open jumpers if he's playing SG. Malik I could live with though he's a little short on the talent side too.
Marbury/Rose would be a nice combo. If neither of your captains have any talent, nobody will really respect them as leaders of the team.

How did Houston bash the Jews? If I remember right him and Ward just said that they killed Jesus, which is essentially true. In fact I think, some Jewish council even cleared them of any anti-semitism.

I guess I bash Houston like you guys bash Marbury. Look at me folks, it won't just go away when the player gets traded or retires.

I understand what you are saying about the smiling. Look I still don't understand how Ewing could ever consider Jordan one of his best friends but he does. It is a sign of changes. There is no more loyality in that sense, hell for all we know Steph and Davis could be teammates on another team next year. As far as the towel thing goes, I guess people haven't watch this guy but he has been doing that routine since his PSAL days in Brooklyn. It is probably just some routine of his but if you are really bothered by this mannerism, then I would get serious help if because it sounds more deep rooted. As far as being a leader I am not buying it, everyone of those rookies said they love to talk to Frye. I watch the Piston game where Steph would was being bench in the 4th was showing Nate, how to play Billups while Brown was complaining about a call that occured a minute before.

True, like Chris Russo says that fans are more passionate about games then players. I guess I can understand that. It is hard to stay up all the time for work which is what it is to these guys.

I look at it this way. I love my brother to death. I would die to protect him. But on the court I'll kick him in the cajones to keep him from having children if it means I'm going to win the game. Same goes for friends. Michael was friends with a lot of guys, so was Larry, so was Magic. But do you think any of these guys let up for a minute on the court. It's very easy to seperate the two. I as a coach have no problem with my players being friends and buddy buddy with other teams because I know that stuff goes away when the ball is put in play.
