I mean does anyone see signs of a team that is ready to breakout next year? Its a team made up of misfits cast off from other teams, horrible chemistry problems, horrible work environment for an NBA club, players dont like coach coach doesnt like players or GM. GM doesnt like coach. No heart no consistency, no effort level sustained.

If it was me, i would do a LOT to cut the fat--we need to define the roles of 9 core players have 3 vets in case of FT injury and 2 players in the pipeline for the future.

One thing the owner must demand of lB is to find 9 guys and stay with them and if so, I guess LB must do some of the shopping for his roster.

it's a very real question. what people don't think about is that every decision made my isiah thomas, every decision made by larry brown, and every decision made by the players, effects EVERYONE else in the organization.

sales people, account execs, marketing, etc...all those guys are effected by decisions of the basketball operations and what's been going on the past few years has not made their jobs easy. can you imagine working in that type of situation?

with that said, in all honesty, you hold on to 5 or so players and get rid of the rest.

the one thing i realized is that this is going to take a LONG TIME to get working right. our youth is about on par with other teams' youth in the league. we may not even have the best young frontcourt in our division (toronto).

to me, it breaks down to keeping the players who buy into the team philosophy and ditching everyone else, guys who are willing to sacrifice to succeed under Brown.

to that end, keep these guys:

Malik
Crawford
Lee
Frye
Curry
Butler
Woods
Richardson
Nate

ditch:
Marbury
Francis
Jalen
Mo Taylor
Jerome James (buy out, probably untradeable)

fill in the holes with rugged defensive guys like a Kmart (huge risk, I know, but maybe one of the only options to dump Francis or Marbury), an Eddie Jones, etc. the overall talent level goes down, but we'd still have plenty of scoring and the overall team play would be better. you have to find a way to get a pure PG in here to either start or backup Crawford.

PG - Crawford, Pure PG
SG - Eddie Jones, Quentin Richardson
SF - Qyntel Woods, Qrich, Lee
PF - Kmart, Frye, Malik, Lee
C - Curry, Butler

draft guys like Hilton Armstrong, Roby or Sean Williams.

not too inspiring, but built more like a real team.

After this season, they have to sell the concept of a TEAM. the flashy psuedo all-stars thing didn't work. build a defensive team that plays to Larry's strong suits.

we should be targetting guys like Reggie Evans.

And if possible, get T2 in the draft...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

i would have no problem at all w/that plan... but it'll be hard to find a taker for Marbury... if we could unload him to MINN for Banks, Griffin & Jaric, i'd do it.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
