Lamond Murray + DeSagana Diop

for

Charlie Ward + Lavor Postell

Knicks get a SF and a young center, while the cavs get their coveted ending contract (sorta) in Ward as wel being a PG which they are short of plus a young player in Postell.

This opens up a whole new range of possibilities in trades, and it would be prudent to have either a PG signing in the books or a trade for NVE or Mouse. Spree would be expendable, although Murray won't come close to Spree's production he is a SF. Center would be OK albeit still too young, so maybe Wang Zhi Zhi would be a possibility.

Why? Haven't you read about the FAX Murray send out regarding him wanting to be traded, as the cavs are in his opinion without direction and keep rebuilding (and his jersey not being available at the arena etc etc).

Lamond Murray is under contract for four more years, and has as of yet no suitors.

Cleveland lacks a PG besides Wagner, who is a rookie.

In all the rumored Cavs Clips trades the cavs seemed to insist on two things, ending contracts and young players. This trade would get them both plus would fill a needed roster position. Only reason why they wouldn't do it are how they value Diop who is still very raw and has an injury history.

Cabs already have Mihm, Ilgauskas and possibly Boozer to play center (and they could possibly resign Skinner who is a FC as well).

Ward has officially two years left on his contract as of now, and there are articles who mention Ward being in the last year of his contract because of a buyout (but don't delve deeper into the subject).

I'm not saying it's a likely trade, but it's in my opinion in a basketball sense ccopmbined with the business a possible trade.

Why? Because Ward and Postell can't bring either one of those guys, how do you expect them to bring both?

Postell, 600 k 1 year

Ward, 6 million this season, with an opt out buy out clause mentioned in articles apparently cheap.

total let's say 7 million,

Lamond Murray, who absolutely doesn't want to remain in Cleveland and has this made known so his trade value is low is signed for another 4 years with a roughly outstanding 17 million.

DeSagana Diop, has already had an injury on his left foot and has suposedly gotten another slight injury during summer play, is extremely raw but a possible future serviceable center. Is in the second year of his rookie contract and has at least 2 more years to go if options aren't taken for roughly 4 million.

total let's say 21 million.

In comes the ownership, the Gunds, who are rich but penny pinching none the less since they don't sell alot of tickets hence the Andre Miller <--> Darius Miles trade.

Knicks are offering a salary relief of 14 million, eventhough the knicks would get the better players the Cavs don't get absolute rubbish either. They need a serviceable PG, they get one in Ward. They want young talents, Postell fits the bill, plus he's cheap.

I can't see how this trade helps the Knicks.

Knicks have no SF's, Lamond Murray is one.

Getting a SF could clear the way for a Spree or AH (one can hope) trade for a PG or a center without leaving the roster structurally flawed which seems to be the habit.

Diop is a future decent starter at center, which is a weak spot for the Knicks wouldn't you say?

Oh and no, Shandon isn't a SF, he's another guard.

Weatherspoon is an SF. People say Spree isn't a small forward because he's 6'5", but he's played the position pretty well since he's been a Knick.

What's Murray's contract situation?

Diop would be the x-factor, from what I saw last year, he wasn't too good, but he could obviously improve.

My bad, it wouldn't be a bad deal at all.

Postell is not young talent. He's young bench fodder. And who cares if Murry is demanding a trade. In today's NBA players don't have a leg to stand on. They can't demand jack. The days of big money for little talent are over. He's going to have to shut up and play, and the Cavs know this.
