Drafting Gibson and trading up(maybe the SA pick and 2 2nd rounders) to Draft Sheldon Williams

Trading Francis and maybe Taylor back to Houston for TMac and Suras contract (I think Houston may have to throw in an easily waivable contract.

Trade Steph to LA for Odom and McKie (easily waivable if Larry doesn't need him with our influx of guards).

Curry/Butler
Frye/Williams/Rose
Odom/Rose/Lee
TMac/Q1/Q2
Gibson/Craw/Nate

isn't there a rule in the CBA against trading the same players for each other a second time? anyway, i don't see HOU taking back Francis & giving away TMac... JVG loves TMac from the things i've heard him saying about him in interviews.

i think Francis to LA for Odom could be a possibility, but not Marbury... they won't be interested in a surly guy like Steph who could possibly get into conflicts w/their superstar.

But marb in the triange might be a good thing.

Marb might have to read those silly Jax books about being at peace with ones self and other crap.

Maybe Phil can get thru to him. Larry just gonna yell more and more.

I don't think so, especially since it would be a full year after the trade. And TMac was rumoured to want out of Houston at he deadline and if Houston deosn't make some noice there is talk of them blowing it up.

I think Marbury is a different player when the team is winning and he isn't responsible for making it happen. and I think a coach like Phil who's ofeense is strucured with options to shoot and deosn't concentrate on D like Larry would make Steph happy.

i just don't see it... the Laker offense is structured around Kobe dominating the ball... they need a guy who can excell in a secondary role that's comfortable playing defense, knocking down open shots when he gets the ball dished to him, & playing good team style basketball... look at how Stephon's reacting to not being able to have free reign on the court under LB... i don't see that changing at all in LA.

Main difference is LB is coaching around defense, Phil around offense. LB is talking about the point guard getting everyone else involved, Phil talks about the PG initiating the offense and then taking the shot if it is there.

D is secondary to Phil, offense first. O is secondary to Larry, D first. Plus Phil is not as tightly wound or as vocal as LB is.

every team he coached on the Bulls & Lakers played good defense up til this season... i think a guy like Chucky Atkins, Brevin Knight, TJ Ford, Devin Harris... these types of players would do well in that system imo... not a shoot first, pass second, defend when i feel like it primadonna like Steph.

I think those guys would do well in ANY system the don't need to be a scorer in.

When Steph is happy, he'll pass, and having arguably the best player in the league where they can actually only need to play a two man game there is plenty of shots and points to go around.

Every team he had played good D but he never actually focused on it. The Bulls were his best defensive team but he had 3 all defensive players on it (HoG, Pip, MJ). His Lakers weren't really known for their D as much as having two guys on the court who couldn't be stopped.

i think Steph would do best playing alongside a dominant bigman... he runs the pick & roll well... put him next to KG & he will find success... but having another perimeter player dominating the ball won't work imo... he needs to have the ball in his hands for him to be at his best... the problem is that the Lakers already have a much more talented player dominating the ball in LA... i don't see Marbury ever becoming comfortable in that system... he needs a coach who will let him freelance, create & score at will, & not put any emphasis on defense... a run & gun type team like DAL who has Dirk Nowitzki would be a nice fit for Marbs except for the fact that Avery Johnson probably wouldn't put up w/Steph's non-D playing arse or his primadonna act of course... PHO should have been a perfect fit, but he ruined his shot there by not gelling w/their other guys

I guess we can agree to disagree, Phil Jax just doesn't scream defense to me.
