trade nate robinson and denver's #1 (and even throw in the spurs pick as well) this year for atlanta's 2007 #1 pick.

i love nate but we have a roster glut. francis, marbs, jamal, quentin - even if steph and/or francis is traded, another guard will be coming in return in the deal (or via the MLE). and since we have so many players under contract, this will help us in that department. and there's a high probability that the 2007 #1 will still be lottery.

what do you guys think?

i think atl pulls the trigger on this. nate sells tickets and they'll use him as a point. since we're probably gonna have chicago's pick in 07, it gives us flexibility to combine these two picks to move up or get two quality players in a deeper draft.

i have no clue - but in 2007, it's supposed to be a VERY deep draft, especially for bigs. we take a gamble that atlanta doesn't improve so much that they still get a top 7 pick in 2007.

If Atlanta even smells the lottery next year, no way they do this. Everyone knows who's coming out...

this is a deal for draft night this year. atlanta can't sell tickets. they have a team full of young kids. how many more do they need? they need to start winning and start selling some tickets. they are under the cap and will go after somebody.

Atlanta's pick may go to Phoenix next year as it loses its top 10 protection this year to top 3.
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

& what happens if ATL makes the playoffs next year as a #8 seed? they have cap space to sign a significant FA this offseason, along w/some very talented young players that will be that much better next year after having another year of NBA experience under their belt... it's not that unreasonable to think they could make a run next year at a .500 record... if that happens, it wouuld mean that we'd essentially given up 3 late 1st round picks for 1 mid-late 1st rounder... not a wise risk to take imo... if you're going to trade Nate & the 2 picks, you have to get back a young player who's already proven that he will be a good NBA player... not take a chance on a draft pick that you have no idea where it will land in a year's time.

To me Nate's a keeper. He's got his flaws, but his strengths, in speed, getting points in bunches, getting to the rim at will, improved passing (and judgement apparently!), fearlessness, clutchness, pressure D, leadership, energy, rah-rahness. No way do I want to trade him.

I think we should explore trading Marbury to Atlanta for a package like this. It's clear Marbury and Brown will never co-exist. Marbury has GTech cred and his contract only runs three more years. I don't know if they would do it, but it's worth exploring.

You keep Nate you don't trade heart and fire, Steph can go with the two picks its more than fair maybe he helps them sell a few more tickets and they get some young bigs to go with a good backcourt and developing Josh Smith who i would swap frye with in a heartbeat, he already does everything better except shoot the ball.....

I would do Frye and Marbury in any number of deals to get rid of steph

Marbury & Frye for Harrington & Josh Smith would be a deal i'd love to make... not sure ATL does it, but that deal could help them alot... they already have a glut at the 3 position as it is... they need a PG & someone who can score at the 4.

for the Knicks, we'd become instantly more athletic, & add a much needed shotblocker/rebounder.

C - Curry / Butler
PF - Harrington / Malik / Lee
SF - Smith / Rose / Woods
SG - Q Rich / Craw
PG - Francis / Nate
IR - Big Turd / Mo T

That deal I would almost agree to.....but I still hate giving up Frye. What if we gave them Steph and the 2 picks?

i don't see them making that deal to get 2 late round picks... Frye would be a big part of the attractiveness to that deal for ATL... what i would do is the Knicks give them both picks if they'll give us back their pick in 2007.

Marbury, Frye & the 2 picks for Harrington, Josh & ATL's 2007 pick.
(we have a roster space problem as it is, so i'd rather re-sign Butler & Qyntel for next season, & in 2007 we'll have 2 more roster spots opening up w/Jalen & Mo T coming off the books, so there should be no problem adding 2 1st rounders that year)
