1. Is there ANY doubt that NY COULD HAVE REBUILT the team VIA youth. Yes there may have been some down times, but is there any doubt young players dont play with more passion and emotion than some of these walking finanical institutions who only care about their check, name and stats? Cant you build a FRESH long-term atmosphere like that instead of having cancers invade the group--in fact they are planiing to expand it with another ending contract.

2. Did it seem like lB was trying to lose the game? or was it more like Starbury and crew just werent playing well and hard enough to win? Even the most ardent supporter cant be blind to this truth. No conspiracy, a lot of these guys dont play hard and smart or are just plain over-rated and poor TEAM players.

my eyes see Marbury, 28 signed through 09
my eyes see Francis, 28 signed through 09
my eyes see Malik Rose, 31 signed through 08
my eyes see Jerome James, 30 signed through 10
my eyes see of Isiah's blue chip "youth" aquisitions in Crawford and Curry as being two of the softest players I have ever watched

my eyes see 18 wins from a team thats plays a veteran roster and we are on the verge of getting blown out by the Hawks before a bunch of college and CBA players came in bail them out.

what do your eyes see?

I see a team that could have won more than 18 wins if Brown would have taken this all more serious from the beginning

at this point I'm glad we are losing. Not rooting for it but its exposed this roster and their inability to play fundamental NBA ball as well as perform at both ends of the court.

Maybe Marbury can write "all alone" on his sneaks and hope he and his 4 career playoff victories gets traded.

Or better yet maybe he stays, and realizes if he wants to play BB in NY he's going to have to defend someone.

Personally I would like to see Marbury, Francis, Crawford, Frye, Lee, Nate, Q, Woods, Malik, Jackie and even Jerome all come back, plus a couple of role players and play tough winning basketball. They have paid for this season and its been a hard lesson. I would love nothing more for them to take it to heart, come into camp next (in shape Jerome) act like a team and play like a team.

Not gonna happen but a guy's got hope

is not rebuilding having a young core (average age 24, frye, lee, nate, jackieb, qwoods, etc.), heck, even qrich, and possibly losing large amounts of games for the cause?

If we released the veterans, would that make you happy?

Open your eyes and try to focus not on the high profile vets, but the young exciting core. they were on display for you last night...they have not played during the year, but they have obviously been practicing together.

I rather this way than 15 no names on the team, I will take 8 kids and 5 high profile suckas. here, the high priced talent gets the lashing, and the kids are free from abuse...heck, you would be bashing david lee if you did not have marbs to bash.

You just like to bash. this record with kids and you would have the same cry baby posts.

snap out of it and quit bitching. we ARE rebuilding.

Larry was trying to win. Larry stuck with the guys that got him back.

It was a statement game win or lose. The kids played hard and earned the time!

Again, patience, this roster will be overturned(again) and you will see more of the hustle guys get more minutes. But it will take time. I do agree with Fish, the roster has been exposed. I love Steve Francis. Unbeleivable talent. But in terms of winning bball, let's be honest. Is he even a starter? 35 years in the league and this guy is still learning the game's simple points. Why? because he was labeled a star from the get go. He probably should have started his career and his first few years as an energizing sixth man instead of being handed shoe contracts. He would be a star right now if that was teh case. Now unfortunately we have to teach him how to play. Unfortunately that's the saem with our entire roster.

The irony is that we always hear that NY has the most knowledegable basketball fans in the world, yet the ownership/management of the Knicks often treats them as if they are the stupidest by constantly using quick fix, smoke and mirror player acquisitions that preclude any chance of building or assembling a championship team.

just to play the hindsight game again...

would there be a better group of vets to show the ropes to while building via the draft than guys like charlie ward, houston, kurt, othella, shandon, dikembe, etc.?

i mean think about it. we have a bunch of kids and the vets in front of them are steph, francis, mo. guys with question marks in terms of team play, hard work, etc.

imagine we just built via the draft and they learned to commit to defense like 52 year old dikembe. or watching the non-stop hustle of ward and othella. that group would've been a better influence on these kids that the group of vets we have now. thank goodness for malik.

The problem is more of a money thing than anything. Is Dolan the type of owner that is in it like Cuban and the Mavs or more like Altanta and the old Clips?

This offseason will be a telling one in that area. If Isiah and Brown are both staying and you see some smart moves during the draft and with MoT and Jalen's expiring contracts and the seattlement of the Marb/Franscis pieces, you _may_ finally see a direction with this organizaion.

i was thinking the same thing, fish. it would be a story if they all came back hungrier and tearing the league up with subtle changes. but that is not going to happen. marbs won't be here with jalen and malik going. but if we upgrade the sf with lewis or harrington we should be decent next year. then again i have said this every year.

But the Lakers play in LA, the second largest market, and have been able to combine the need to fill a building with smart basketball decisions. The result is 8 championships since 1973, while the Knicks have won none.

I agree about the upcoming offseason.

Crawford actually played a key role last night- I had pretty much written him off- maybe there is hope for him.

If there is hope for him, maybe there is hope for Curry.

Personally, I'd tell Steph he is a DNP for the rest of the season, go home and think about what he wants. I'd love to trade him- but what is going to do more harm to his low trade value- playing or getting a DNP?

That's the problem with our team, no consistency. There's hope for all our guys but until they do it on a nightly basis it's nothing but a tease.

The Lakers when Jerry was GM had 2 HUGE dashes of luck. Kobe working out the way he did and the risk of trading away raw pieces in the hopes that Shaq would come to town. Extremely lucky. If no Shaq, you have the same thing as the Knicks.

fish, good post and I agree, except I can't see marbury comming back, I was just listening to rick Pitino on the Dan patrick show, he said at this point, you have to if you can, trade marbury, that relationship took a big hit. I have soured on marbury, he refuses to get it, people blame brown, marbury places himself as the face of the team, the leader, all he had to do was really give a honest effort and support brown, that would have gone a long way with this team, I can't imagine steph busting his ass and supporting brown, and guys not following suit. He chose to do otherwise, he undermined this team and this season. I follow the knicks hard, this season meant a lot to me, every season does, he played a big part in ruining this I hate him for that, as a fan..
