But aren't you psyched about getting the 29th pick? Because apparently the 29th pick is a great thing to have but the 31st pick isn't that important. What a difference 2 spots makes.

Aldridge or Gay. Can't really go wrong either way.

hmmm, I don't really follow the college game much but I know enough to see there is no Shaq or LeBron out there. I may even try to trade down for multiple picks.

Or if nothing else that would have been one hell of a trade asset. So would next years pick.

BRIGGS says Gay is soft. I kinda like Morrison but I think that is just me being a Larry Bird fan.

That's no different than taking Oliwakandi #1.

Ah man, can we please stop calling Adam Morrison, Larry Bird because he's white! Larry Bird was a much much much much more complete player, even coming out of college. Morrison scores, doesnt play all that much defense while Bird scored, rebounded, assisted and played excellent defense. The two players really have no similarities other then the fact their white and shoot 3s.

Rudy Gay is more then soft, he's pathetic. The guy has more talent in his right hand then half the players in the NBA have in their bodies, yet he doesn't want to play defense and doesn't want too take charge on offense. Could the guy be a hall of famer one day? Sure he can but that's ONLY if he steps it up and he has shown no signs of doing that infact, he's went backwards if you ask me. If you cant step up your game under Jim Calhoun there is a serious problem becuase the guy has lit a fire under every single of his star players and they've all turned out just fine, Mr Gay has a TON of work to do.

I certainly didn't like the Mo Taylor trade even at the time of it, but the 4 year cheap rookie contracts with full Bird rights that 1st rd picks have does give pick 29 a large edge over pick 31.

Bonn the 4 year rookie contracts for 1st rounders are a thing of the past. Late 1st round picks are not as bad financially wise as they once were. The 3rd and 4th years for 1st rounders are now team options.

? I was arguing in favor of the late 1st round pick over the early 2nd rd pick.

His point is that second rounders now have bird-rights as well, as long as the team picks up the option.

I see a lot of Tim Thomas in Rudy Gay

I think I would take the Italian kid. Chad Ford cant be wrong!

Chad Ford is in a safehouse hiding from HARDCOREKNICKSFAN.

The Italian kid sounds great BUT . . . the descriptions of him souind eerily similar to the ones we used to get on Skita.

Only for MLE contracts, which would not have protected many stars like Arenas and Rashard Lewis. You also have to waste your MLE on that 2nd rd player rather than going out and signing another player. Even if you are able to re-sign 2nd rd pick, if he's a good player, it will be to a huge contract starting in year two rather than the ability to have four years of a guy on a dirt cheap rookie contract. That's why the Mavs are paying Marquis Daniels $40 mil but are paying Josh Howard (pick #29) about $1 mil per. There are huge advantages contractually to the late 1st rd pick over the early 2nd rd pick.
