if you told me when isiah got the job, that in two years, we would have marbury, francis, jalen rose, and eddy curry on the roster, i would've been upset. in fact, i would've been downright upset. i was never a fan of any of those players.

but as of right now, i don't care.

isiah is an idiot...absolute IDIOT for admitting that he tried to kiss anucha. absolute IDIOT. if he's still with the organization, and this has NOTHING to do with his basketball transactions, then this organization will never really amount to anything anyways.

for those blaming larry brown, well, the problem is much deeper rooted than the coach. trade marbury? ok, that's one step. but then you got francis right behind him. how can anybody say he's coachable or bought into the system after 2 weeks? dude will revert back to his orlando days in due time.

you should look at it this way...EVEN larry brown couldn't help this situation.

this team is not worth the attention we give them.

didn't miss it. in his interview, lb said that him and jalen weren't his first choices as they were working on other deals. so they took the best thing they could for penny. he also said they were going to figure it out in the offseason. that's straight from him, not from any other reporter saying that he was pushing for it.

well, it did transpire under larry's watch so if francis is here after the summer, then i'll give lb some heat for it at that point.

What are you talking about...LB ask IT to trade for Francis and Rose....So you are giving Isiah heat for the trades Larry ask for...

Lots of blame to go around....

Isiah: Larry pushed for Steve deal

BY FRANK ISOLA
DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER

Larry Brown is apparently happy that Steve Francis is a Knick.
Steve Francis may not be the prototypical Larry Brown player, but when the three-time All-Star became available, it was Brown who pushed Isiah Thomas to acquire him.

"When Francis' name was mentioned, (Brown) was the first to say hey, this is a guy that we'd be interested in," Thomas revealed yesterday.

The decision to trade Penny Hardaway's expiring contract and Trevor Ariza to Orlando for Francis raised further questions about the direction of the franchise and about the working relationship between Thomas and Brown.

The prevailing thought around the league is that Thomas, the team president, made a deal that his head coach couldn't possibly have endorsed. With those factors in mind, Thomas and Brown met the media yesterday in an effort to show a unified front and to explain that Brown was in favor of acquiring Francis.

"When we talked about it (Wednesday), it was one of those things when you first think about it you say, 'Wow, I don't know,'" Thomas said at the Knicks' training facility in Greenburgh. "But then you start listening to some of the qualities that (Larry) brought out and the way he thought they could play together, it made a lot of sense to do, particularly at this time in terms of upgrading our talent level and where we are today."

Francis is expected to make his Knicks debut tonight against the Nets at the Garden. He will be paired in the backcourt with another former All-Star, Stephon Marbury. Both players are similar in that they need the ball to be effective. But Brown, who on Wednesday may have gone a bit too far by using Walt Frazier and Earl Monroe as a favorable comparison, made it known that he wanted Francis.

"If you look at the movement in the league, that's a pretty significant trade," Brown said. "I really believe he'll help us."

The addition of Francis creates a glut at the shooting guard position and opens the door for more trades this summer. With two first-round picks, Francis, Marbury, Channing Frye and Eddy Curry, the Knicks privately feel they could put together an attractive package to possibly acquire Kevin Garnett, Jermaine O'Neal or Al Harrington.

For the last three weeks, the Knicks received interest from Orlando, Denver and Portland regarding Hardaway's expiring contract. The Nuggets were willing to trade Kenyon Martin and Earl Watson to New York, but Thomas refused to include Frye in the deal.

Thomas then negotiated a deal with the Blazers that would have brought Theo Ratliff and Darius Miles to the Knicks for Hardaway and a first-round pick. But Thomas pulled out at the last minute because Ratliff and Miles have a history of injury problems. Thomas made calls to several teams yesterday but never made a serious bid on any player before the 3 p.m. trading deadline passed.

"Almost every call that we took today, one of our young guys was mentioned," Thomas said. "That's a credit to (Brown). He's done a great job developing our young players and bringing them along. They've had some great moments and they've had some embarrassing moments. The talk around the league from other coaches and GMs is they value our young guys."

Thomas and Brown went out of their way to prove that they are peacefully coexisting. Last month, former Knick Antonio Davis said that Brown and Thomas needed to get on the same page.

The organization has been unhappy with Brown's public criticism of the players and Brown seemed angered that Thomas told reporters on Tuesday that the chemistry between the players and Brown isn't good.

I do care. I'm not going to sit here and complain about the failings and the losses every single day. I think we will be a strong team next year. We probably won't be the same team we are today, but THAT I don't care about.

Four straight games they were playing harder and they won two of them. Then we get another setback. This is just the way it's going to be until everyone who isn't giving everything they have every night is gone. I can wait another year.

Be as pessimistic and caught up in the moment as you want. I'm just going to keep watching and pushing for them to win until they do it consistently.

Isiah is the person resposible for deciding what players are best for the Knicks. If for some reason he is deferring to LB or if LB is picking the players there is no reason for Isiah to be in NY.
"When Francis' name was mentioned, (Brown) was the first to say hey, this is a guy that we'd be interested in,"

That statement is in no way indicative of LB proposing, negotiating or making the decision on the trade. It was Larry saying...Penny and Ariza for Francis....sure I think that is an upgrade. Really who wouldn't. It is a far stretch to say they are LBs picks though.

I didn't read anything about Isiah admitting that he tried to kiss Anucha. Does anyone have a link to that article?

I don't equate pom-pom waving or watching things through rose-colored glasses as a precursor to be considered a fan. If my kid was smoking dope, I would'nt say good going son! way to smoke that weed! keep up the good job! you'll kick it next year! same thing with your team--if things are going foul--and Im not talking about btching 3 months after winning 45 games or something--im talking about the worst disaster in sports history--as a FAN I'm going to say WTF Isiah--WTF-Dolan-- WTF are you doing? STOP IT GET ISIAH OUT OF HERE and come up with a cogent plan of attack instead of this inane jargin we are witnessing.

one question holfresh, if it's not steph's fault, (btw i NEVER said it was steph's fault), then is this a case again of a GM not surrounding steph with enough talent to be successful? a case again of a GM not giving steph complementary players to accentuate his game? or do you think that we have the right pieces around steph and lb totally misused them?

for the record, steph is steph. he's always been steph and nothing has changed since his days in minny. he is what he is and isiah knew what he was when he brought him here. i don't blame steph for anything. i lay blame on the guy that brought him here without a plan.

If Hoping that the team you supposedly root for does well next season is "pom pom and cheerleader" stuff, is your definition of a fan, then I guess you don't root for the Knicks, you just criticize them.

I guess some folks are just mimicking the sarcastc crap those so-called beat writers write about the team.

Since when is thios equated with kids doing drugs? LOL That's one you have to use both hands to reach.

Worst disaster in Sports history? Another reach, and an exaggeration that's knee-jerk in nature to say the least.

I'll say it again for emphasis, KNICKS IN 2007. Isiah, Dolan, Laerrry, Steph, I hope they ALL DO WELL.

Whoever calls themselves a Knicks fan, get a grip and handle it.

Real fans root for the team REGARDLESS.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Ok, the only person saying that Brown was the one who pulled the trigger on the Francis is Isiah, the guy looking desperately to divert criticism from himself.

But let's for a moment dismiss common sense and what we know about the type of PG's that LB likes and the type that he despises, like Marbury and Francis, and say that Francis was LB's move. What does that say about the plan that Isiah had in place before LB came on board? You supposedly spent the last 18 months acquiring players in some kind of rebuilding effort and then you hire a coach that wants to win now so you switch plans to acquire players that the coach wants instead of sticking to your plan that you've been working on since you've been here?!?

Either way it shows how inept Isiah is in running a franchise.

We sucked long before Stevie got here. It ain't his fault, and the last two trades were basically Antonio and Trevor for Rose and Francis.

Lets grab the pom poms and hand it up for the year. The intrigue of laying blame is old anyway.

The real knick season starts soon anyway! Draft, Trades, Sign and trade drama! Best part of being a fan.

We all fans here. TO me, a real fan is not one to stick their heads up the butts (still smells I gather) but ones that demand the team do better!

Media did not create this mess. If its the GM, then this is Isiahs mess.

HIm or whomever we all hope helps clean it up!

Yesterdays "starbury" comments are very discouraging!
