i want to first say that i like steve francis, and i really would like to see him succeed here, and would be happy if he was here last year, but for this plan to work he must go. I have given up on Marbury, he must go for us to win next year.

first trade w/minnesota:
knicks get: ricky davis, rashad mcCants, eddie griffin, trenton hassell
T'Wolves get: stephon marbury, 1st round pick

second trade:

knicks get: Lamar odom
Lakers get: steve francis, calros boozer, donta smith
hawks get: kwame brown, smush parker, devin brown, aaron mckie
jazz get: al harrington (s/t), jalen rose

third trade:

knicks get: kenny thomas
kings get: jamal crawford

fourth trade:

knicks get: jared jeffries, antonio daniels
wizards get: quentin richardson

knicks sign speedy claxton with mid-level

pg speedy claxton/antonio daniels/nate robinson
sg ricky davis/trenton hassell/rashad mccants
sf lamar odom/jared jeffries/david lee
pf channing frye/kenny thomas/malik rose
c eddy curry/eddie griffin

much more balanced scoring, and a far better defensive team. like i said earlier im a big francis fan and its hard to move him, but i think this is a better team than we can build by keeping him, theres a plan and balance to this group, in my opinion.
thoughts?

i think you forgot about Mo Taylor, Jackie Butler, Qyntel Woods & Jerome James... unless you think the Knicks are simply going to let 2 young players that LB likes (Butler & Woods) to walk via free agency, & buy out the rest of the contracts of 2 veterans signed to big money contracts in Mo T & JJ.

ask yourself if woods would want to come back with that roster in place. he has shown he can get serious minutes, and as much as LB might like him, why would woods come back if a better option is there for him. Taylor is not active right now and brown wont change that next year, especially if that is the roster, hes a final year contract, so i would expect something similar to happen to mo as what happened to tim thomas in chicago this year. as for james, he would never play and i just forgot to add him honostly, but if you want to feel better, just throw him in behind griffin and there you go.

the MIN deal i like (I've suggested similar ones to get Marbury over to MIN & i really like Ricky Davis)... as for the other ones, sorry, i just don't see why SAC would ever trade Kenny Thomas for Craw & WAS wouldn't want to take on Q's contract.

& there's no way that Jackie Butler will be allowed to walk... he's young, he's cheap & he's got alot of talent... he's also beginning to click well in LB's system & getting more & more playing time... he'll be on the roster next year... there's not enough roster spots for your plan to take shape.

usually i would agree with you about washington, but in the deal we take back daniels who is a very bad contract on there part, as he has been a terrible fit there this year, while Q might be able to fit in better with arenas. it is basically a bad contract swap with players that simply fit better on their new roster. daniels is a big guard who can come off the bench for the smaller claxton. its not the perfect deal but i do think it works for both teams. as far as crawford to sac, im not sure bout scaremento doing it, but i think with an up-tempo team like that crawford could do well, and they need another 2-guard so it could make sense, otherwise id call denver and see about a s/t w/evans.
