Forget stats. Diaw simply does everything. Scoring, rebounding, good defense, steals, good shot-blocking, outstanding passing, excellent playmaking skills, the ability to be your starting PG or starting center or anything in between.

so true. Stodemire is not an elite rebounder by any standards, but he got 9 last year. imo frye on the suns would be 20/8 THIS YEAR!

So he'd be what Diaw is as a starter but without the steals, defense, or assists?

First of all, dont kid yourself, nobody on the Suns plays defense, they're too busy scoring. Defense isnt just about blocking or stealing (see Crawford, Jamal)

Secondly, yes Diaw is a better passer/playmaker (although it remains to be seen what Channing would be like playing with Nash in D'Antoni's system), but Frye is a superior shotblocker and post player.

Besides, Diaw has had 2 years in the league to adapt to how his opposing man will act. Channing's had much less.

To me Channing has the edge here.

Are you on crack? The Suns are much improved on defense this year and Diaw is a big part of the reason why. I believe the Suns are still ranked #1 in defensive efficiency.

The Suns are a very good defensive team. They give up a lot of points because they play at a fast pace. Per possession they give up fewer points than most teams. Nash is probably their only poor defender among the players who get major playing time.

take Nash off that team & Diaw becomes nothing more than a solid role player imho... Frye will be a star no matter what team he plays on, given the playing time... that's what separates the 2 in my eyes.

Frye has a better jumpshot and thats it

Diaw can effectively play all 3 frontcourt positions and defends all 5 positions.

its not even close.

the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

Did you see how he played with Nash out? It's only one game but he has all the skills necessary to do everything on the court from all five positions. Also, Nash has nothing to do with him averaging 7 rbs, 7 assists, 1 block, 1 steal. Nash elevates players but he's not superman.

I agree with Bonn that Diaw is a very good player and would be so, with or without Nash.

I'm not 100% sure I would trade Frye for Diaw, but it's tough not to be tempted with the way Diaw played this year.

Frye has been broken down by Larry, which has hurt his confidence, and he never knows how many minutes he will play.

Subject Diaw to that and see what happens.

Yep - Larry's fault. I also think he talked Canseco and Giambi into using steriods, paid off the white sox in 1919, caused Csonka to fumble and his coaching has led to rising interest rates...

Oh yeah, I forgot, players control their own playing time.

Get over yourself.

I suspect Larry has negatively impacted Frye but I still don't see Frye playing the defense Diaw plays, averaging close to a tripple double as a starter, and playing all five positions on both ends of the court like Diaw does even if he were in *any* system with *any* coach and *any* PG

Diaw and Frye have different games. You put Diaw back on Hawks and he's nothing but you can take a scorer and put him on hawks and he'll score alot but you put them on a middle of the road team and i bet Diaw has more of an impact.

Frye has played plenty and he's done ok. He's just needs to learn a few things.

Thanks for being your usual hospitable self.
