The best part is that San Antonio's pick that we have is lottery protected.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

You mean San Antonio came up with an insurance plan, just in case they weren't as good as they thought they would be? What a novel concept. Wow!!!!
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

So some of you think Nar Muhammed is worth Malik Rose and two unprotected picks?!? Interesting.....

Well Isiah's excuse for not protecting the picks was that the Knicks were supposed to be good this year. So, San Antonio is one of the league's best teams. They shouldn't have protected the picks, since they're so good, using Isiah's logic.

Or Maybe Curry is/has the potential to be a MUCH better player than Nazr, and he is worth more?

Ok, so Chicago doesn't get rid of a player they were offering $20 MM to retire and had heart condition, if we say, make the pick top 3 protected? Give me a break.

I'm surprised we didn't give up 6 more picks the way he negotiates.

Hold on, it wasn't 20 mil to retire (and BTW right now it seems Curry's health is absolutely fine making this a moot point anyway) it was money spread over so many years garaunteed if something happened to him.....

Would I have preferred the picks to be protected yes, but comparing the SA picks and Nazr to the picks we gave up and Curry is totally apples to oranges.

Curry is a better player than Nazr. Curry is younger than Nazr. Curry has the chance to be special, however far off it seems, he does. Remember who surprised everyone was we got 2 picks for Nazr? Now we are talking about how SA was so smart in protecting them? One way or the other fellas, can't be both.

Curry may not be worth what we gave up for him, but to get a true center now a days in this league you have to overpay a bit that is just the way it is.

I know the company line is Curry never would play for Chicago again. Well, Webber was never supposed to play for Sactown, Iverson almost got traded how many times from Philly? if the Knicks weren't there, I am sure Curry would have played for the bulls again....other people may doubt it but I have no doubts in my mind.

Who is comparing Curry to Nazr? Nazr cost the Spurs two low first rounders and a crappy player, while Curry cost us Sweetney (#9 lottery pick a few years ago), two unprotected first rounders (the second is a potential pick swap, I know... which means we have no shot at say, Oden), a second rounder (I think). We gave up MUCH MUCH more than what San Antonio gave up for Nazr. I don't see why you're comparing.

All I'm saying is that San Antonio, a franchise which clearly knows what it's doing, doesn't make the mistake of giving away unprotected picks, even knowing that the odds of them being a lottery team are very low.

We had a fair shot of being a lottery team and Isiah made the picks unprotected. That's just poor planning, no way around it.

I was glad we got Curry, but we gave up too much. We're just about the only team in the league run so poorly.

We are comparing what was given up for each player which is effectively comparing the player Solace. Sweetney is turning out to be crap after a decent first quarter of a season. We gave up an expiring contract and draft picks for a potential offensively dominating All-Star center.

As of now Malik is putting up better numbers than Sweets! lol...seriously, i don't see the big del in SA protecting it's picks...Nazr isn't worth two unprotected picks, let alone that we all didn't think he was worth two picks period. Curry is worth it, IMO. You're right we overpaid, but unless you can pluck a Jermaine O'Neal like Indy did (and how much do you think Indy liked that trade at the time...a starter for a kid that played like 5 minutes all season...you have to overpay for size and skill....especially if a player has both.

Your true center grabbed 2 rebounds in 20 minutes last night.

I noticed that.....and all I have to say is Malik grabbed 12...Malik has heart Curry doesn't. Curry has shown he can rebound a bit when he follows advice Scott Skiles gave him and he "jumps".
