Im developing a tradechecker to put on the uk website. Full props to Martin/Andrew for the project. Wanted some input from you guys.

We are finishing the database stage of the application, and now we come to the interface. Based on the 2 tradecheckers out there, what would you like to have included in this one. For example, salary ratio's or real $ figures? Are player pics important? Deeper final explaination of the deal? etc. etc.

Please be as specific a possible. No suggestion is too small. We will try to incorporate as much as we can.

Thanks.

it would be nice to show this year's salary as well as the remaining years:

example:

2005/2006 2006/2007 2007/2008 2008/2009
stephon marbury $16,453,125 $18,281,250 $20,109,375 $21,937,500

where you can also select the year you want to trade him so it's not only a trade checker for this year but for any year in the future as well. i don't like ratios and would like to see actual $$$'s.

also and nice clickable FAQ or help with all the BYC status', restricted free agents, etc. would be nice.

I agree about real money figures. One annoying thing about the realgm tradechecker is I always have to go hoopshype to check out the salaries.

good call from DJ. Display a grid of the actual salary out to the end of the contract. This way we can see how Isiah has screwed us for years to come.

if there's any way to include trade exemptions, that would be good.

for example, if i want to trade jalen for harrington, other tradecheckers would say "failed scenario" but since atlanta is under the cap, the trade is technically allowed with atlanta giving us a trade exemption as well.

also, if we could include CASH in transactions to make it balance out (up to $3 mil).

example: player A is not within 25% of player B but player A + $2 mil is.

$ is better than ratio. Also, I would want to drill down on a player or team and see their full contract $ and years with all of the player/team options. Drill down again and it sends you to ESPN or NBA for their player stats.

It's weird but ESPN's year remaining columns are off. I don't know why.

this is very good. 2 different things that RealGM and ESPN don't have.

if you could incorporate how far under/over the salary cap the 2 teams are on the main page of where you are inputting the trade, you would be able to see which team could absorb the extra $ and how much NY is paying in luxuary before and after trade, that would be useful.

cash isn't inclued when making salaries match. Cash involved goes directly to the team owner.

this may be impossible but it would CLEARY separate you from the others.

Include under the list of players not only up to $3M as a line item but 1st round lottery picks a team has accumulated.

i would like to see pics as a interface bonus. would make it better to look at.

A link to the players profile, u know height, weight and what the are averaging this season and possibly last season.

maybe the ability to see a trade of a player even tho they might have trade ristrictions on them at the time. u know when ur looking into the future but the trade checker is stuck in the present...lol.

Done already.

planned already

Can someone elaborate on this? Is cash part of the CBA authorised trade or just a side incentive?

Yes this is a good idea. I could do something like "total value of contract" for both sides.

This is good. Keep them coming.

a clearer accounting for BYC rules

and perhaps along with showing salaries, some kind of graph indicating whether you are within the 125% paramaters for teams over the cap while you are selecting players

hmmmmmmmm. A dynamic graph. Very technical. We'll see.

for trade exemptions, a simple formula like this:

for any team: NBA cap $ - Team's Payroll = $#####

if $#### is > 0, then automatically include that amount as a trade exemption (or phantom player in that trade).

or, to make it easier, you can just automatically include "trade exemption" as one of the players you can select on a team.

-------------

and as you select players, a running total on the screen would be mega cool.

You cannot throw cash in to make the deal work under the cap. Cash is considered "other considerations" and is merely a bonus. it's not allowed to count towards either team's cap situation.

here's a run down on the CBA and this rule in particular:
http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#82

82. Can cash be included as part of a trade package?

Players can be traded for cash, and cash can be included in trade packages. The amount of cash is limited to $3 million. The cash is NOT considered when matching salaries under the Traded Player exception.

In a sign-and-trade arrangement, if the contract contains a signing bonus, then any amount of this bonus paid by the signing team counts toward the $3 million limit (see question number 76).
