From the Chicago Tribune by Sam Smith

"Isiah Thomas said he talked to Larry Brown on Thursday morning, as he does every day.

No, he wasn't trying to get him in off the ledge.

"I said to him again this morning," said Thomas, who now takes "embattled" as praise before his title as Knicks president. "'You and I have got to build this together, and we have to stay together. As much as people will tell you that you don't know what you're doing, after coaching in two straight NBA Finals, you know what you're doing. As much as people tell me I don't know what I'm doing, we have to stick to the plan we have, not deviate and be stubborn.'"

Notice Isiah didn't mention any type of success that he's had as an executive as a basis for believing that he knows what he's doing the way he did for LB, mentioning that Brown is coming off of 2 straight Finals appearances as a coach. Any guesses as to why? BECAUSE HE DOESN'T HAVE ANY!!

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to have faith in Isiah and to believe that he knows what he's doing and that this is all part of a grand plan of his to make us contenders. I defy anyone to prove differently. And no, hopes and dreams and saying "you gotta believe" aren't valid arguments Misterearl and rvhoss.

No, he's just F***** the franchise, that I've been a fan of for 25 years, as hard as anyone can possibly imagine for the next decade. Sorry if I have a problem with that.

I think with the addition of Francis he can save face next year--although as he says it was all LB on that one.

Id be looking at bringing in atleast 2 athletic guys who are 6-10+ a another speed guard like marcus banks so we can always have 2-3 penetrators on the floor at all times.

Something like Gadzuric and josh Boone[im trying to be realistic]

ie. SA pick + Mo Taylor for Gadzuric
Nate Denver pick + cash=Boone
5 years 20mm for Banks

C-Curry Boone
F GadzuricFrye
F Q Rich Lee
G Francis Crawford
G Marbury Banks

Went to my first game as a wee lad in 1971.

Talk about being spoiled by success!

Went to many ABA games during the Dr. J years 1974-5-6. So in my little world at that time as young hoop junkie we had championships in 1973, 1974 and 1976! Add the 1970 team as it was part of the culture. 7 seasons, 4 rings for this long Island boy!

I don't see Isiah that different than Sonny Werblin, Al Bianchi, Scotty Sterling, Checketts and Layden. Really. Without Ewing, this franchise would be a disaster in that time frame. We never built a team around him because of impatience.

The Last great mind we had was Eddie Donovan who constructed the great teams of 1968-73. He left to run the Buffalo Braves but we did bring him back one more time. Just like we tried bringing back Red Holzman who failed miserably with the coke head teams we had then.

This team has been thinking the same since 1975. Debussure retired and walt was traded.

Since then its 31 years of starphuching in one form or another. Isiah is no different.

The only one who might have had a clue might have been Grunfeld but his tenure was all too brief. He hired Nelson. Grunfeld lost it really when he was forced to not stand up to Ewing.

The crime here if there was none was nobody was man enough to let Patrick walk. Pandering to his whims has cost us 9 years. Dolan makes bad decisions. Most likely, Isiah is just one more in a long line. Isiah was even dumber to take this gig.

this sounds very reasonable and actually doable. And don't think for a moment that the Knicks won't try to parlay Rose's contract near the trade deadline.

The only problem is that it'll be parlayed into some other overpriced stiff who LB has no use for but it'll come with the 25th pick in the 07 draft and we'll all be told how great it is to have 2 picks in the 20's when the Bulls are using our lottery pick on Greg Oden.

Adding another speed pG makes a ton of sense. That means you have two guards maybe 3 on the court at all times that can break you down, very hard to guard and opens up post players for 1-1 moves. bringing in two athletic SB next to Curry and Frye makes a ton of sense.

see im not even remotely interested in odom. Look at villanova this year--put 2-3 spped guards on the floor along with post players who can score--curry frye and SB boone Gadzuric--intangible player lee 3 pt specialist Q and hopefully craw can improve to give consistent limited minutes.

no man, LB is approving each and every aquisition these days. Isiah is handcuffed in the absolute final decisions.

You seriously believe that?!? You seriously think LB wanted Rose and Francis? They're probably the 2 players that were widely available that I'd think LB would least want.

about banks - why not sign a stop gap vet for like a year or two (damon stoudamire would've been good for us) and try to develop nate into a marcus banks up and down pg?
