scroll down and read the part about buying out a player or two in the offseason. Jerome James and Malik Rose better watch their backs. Buying out those two allows NYK to use the MLE, both draft picks, and resign Woods and Butler.

buying out players does nothing but open roster spots.

If you think buying out Malik really adds anything you have not kept up with the Knicks at all. Watch the games and anyone can tell Malik has severe limitations, but come on, pay attention a little closer.

I'd much rather buyout Malik and Jerome and have roster space for 1 to 2 players with the MLE like Reggie Evans plus space for the 2 1st rd picks and space to keep Butler and Woods

Why the hell do we need Reggie Evans, Lee's numbers are just as good rebounding the ball and he gives you offense, your crazy if you think he and Frye aren't improving this offseason

i really hope we hold onto Lee... even if Frye is traded in the offseason in a package for a star player, i don't want to see Lee traded... he's going to be a great role player for this team.

Why need the Xman if you already have Oakley? Why need Mason? This is what we lack. David Lee is nice but he's a shrimp next to Reggie. Put them out there together with 3 guards and you will see some scrappy play. We need Reggie in the worst way. A guy who only cares about defending the paint and ripping down rebounds.

We need SEVERAL tough players. MS, you can't seriously say "We have David Lee; so we have all the toughness we'll need for the next ten years in our entire frontcourt!" Give me Evans, Lee, and some more tough players.

i don't view Lee as an Oakley type player... he can run the floor & finish w/the best of them, & he's a very intelligent passer as well... why can't we sign Evans & keep Lee at the same time? get rid of Mo T & Malik.

TMS my plan exactly. They are complimentory, not meant to replace one or the other.

I would like to go with a rotation of
Curry/Frye
Evans/Lee/Kenny Thomas

with KT playing at least half his minutes at the 3. Put our firepower backcourt of Marbs/Francis back there with Q1,Q2 and a possibly a 3rd scappy PG like Marcus Banks. Could Nate be that PG? That would be ideal, but I would trade Nate and the Spurs picks for Banks in a heartbeat.

With Marbury and Francis in the backcourt it woudl be nice to have a very shapr shooting SF

I also think signing a Reggie Evans would be a step in the right direction. This team needs a rugged force at the PF position.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

The only thing I don't like about Evans is that he can't block shots. I don't care about his offense, but we do need shot blockers desperately. But if he could block shots, he'd command more than the MLE and be out of our range of possibilities anyway

No buyouts unless the roster spots are needed. Otherwise, I think we should put guys on the Tim Thomas treatment for the rest of their deals (not good guys like Malik though). Screw 'em. I would take every opportunity to prevent guys from ever playing at a pro level again.

I cant see this being the backcourt on opening day next season. Stephon or Francis is gone.

I do pay attetnion and I have nothing against Malik, but I'd rather the roster spot go to a young player like a pick, Woods, or Butler. If Jerome and Malik aren't the one or two guys Dolan was referring to who was it? Marbury and Francis? Curry and Frye? If you think anyone other than Jerome and Malik are the buyout candidates than you are the one who has not kept up with the Knicks at all and should pay attention a little closer.

i've always liked Kenny Thomas, but unless SAC is looking to dump salary, i don't see a match w/us... maybe Malik & SA's 1st rounder? that gets rid of the last 2 years of KT's contract... or we can offer Mo T for KT & Potapenko if they're strictly looking for a salary dump.

only problem is if we get both KT & Reggie Evans, i see it cutting into Frye & Lee's playing time, which i don't want to do... & at this point, i'd like to use Butler as our primary backup C option next year, because i think he's got some nice upside.

i think Isiah's going to try & use Mo T's expiring deal along w/Jalen's to go after a big fish in the offseason (in combination w/1 of our young guys & maybe the picks)... if so, then signing Reggie Evans would make alot of sense (unless we could somehow swing a trade for Gadzuric)... i just hope they don't get rid of David Lee.

An open spot is 100 times better than having Jerome James. And since the slogan of this team is that money doesn't matter, I don't give a dam. Now, can they do somethinf that finally helps this team? Thats the big question.

I hate Jerome James. He is your typical politician. He says all the "right things" like he has a script already prepared, yet he does absolutely nothing, zero, nada, rien, niente! He talks about how he was offered this and promised that and the only thing he can do is make stupid fouls. GRR!!! Shut the F up, Jerome!

Excellent point fish. X-Man, Oakley, Mason and Bonner were a scary bunch.

yeah and it's not even the fact that they are undersized. They play the same game, it's not going to work. Unless one comes off the bench and they split minutes and we bring in a tough SG and rotate the 3. How is Frye/Lee going to develop with those 2 taking all the shots? Forget Curry. Maybe Marbury can keep doing what he's doing which is take only 7 shots a game and hit one while we go 15-42
