Dolan is an idiot. So is Steve Mills.

Thing is.... MSG is probably still making more money than all 3 combined cause of the season ticket holders and Cable monopoly.

Don't forget to mention that while those teams are at the top of the league, the Knicks are 2nd to last as far as record goes. Also, they are 2nd to last in point differential. We haven't held a lead in 15 quarters. It's really difficult to endure stretchs like this. I'm a fan, but this is pushing it.

Definitely Ewing. I probably should make that more clear. I've thought long and hard about where our problems stem from. I've come up with this:

Ewing -becomes-> Glen Rice, Luc Longley, Travis Knight -becomes-> Howard Eisley, Shandon Anderson -becomes-> Stephon Marbury, Penny Hardaway -becomes-> Steve Francis -becomes-> ???

I guess the point is, we had a crack at getting under the cap by letting Ewing expire, but oh no - we needed to maximize the value of that expiring deal. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those arm-chair capologists who thinks he could be a real GM just because I can use, uh, well, RealGM. However, I do think that the Ewing deal sent us spiraling out of control. I'm not even one of those guys that is clamoring for cap space, but I'll say this much - I rather have cap space than what we have right now. We have crap space. It's a space where other teams like to store their crap.

I agree with you for the most part about the Ewing trade, but from what I understand, Ewing demanded a trade. The Knicks should not have given it to him. If Patrick had one big fault, it was too much pride. He had to be treated as the best player. But he played with enormous pride too.

I'm glad you made that clearer now. I read it and assumed you were talking about Kurt Thomas and I was starting to get irritated!

It started when we traded Clyde to the Cavs for Jim Cleamons.

if you ask me, the REAL problem w/the Knicks is Dolan... he hired Layden & Isiah, & he OK'd all the moves to add salary that Layden & Isiah made through the years... i say Dolan should step down & give the reigns over to someone who actually knows how to run an NBA franchise... the guy clearly has no clue whatsoever.

I don't disagree with you but here is one thing I would add: Dolan has admitted he knows NOTHING about running a backetball organization, so the best he can do is listen to Mills about who he should hire for GM and coach. For me, if you had to point at upper level management I would go 60/40 to Mill/Dolan. For Mills this is 2 bad GMs in a row and for Doland, he has allowed Mills to get away with it twice.

you got a good point there as well... but any CEO of a company is ultimately responsible for the personnel he hires... he hired Steve Mills too, no? the people he's putting in charge of this organization clearly have run it into the ground... it's time for someone else to take charge, & that needs to start from the very top... if only the Knicks were a publically traded company, the stockholders (US) could vote these bums out.

Yeah Dolan OK'd the moves to add all this salary but guess who came to him with the deals to add all that salary and all these overpriced and underperforming players? Dolan is an idiot but these moves have been Isiahs. Just because you can buy what you want it doesn't mean you have to buy crap.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

why doesn't that apply to Dolan? he hired these guys to make the decisions... the ultimate responsibility rests w/him.
