What is "rebuilding"?
It means playing the youth, and growing through the draft
It means acquiring the assets to trade for Kevn Garnet
It means whatever we want it to mean today

Building a team that can win for many (at least five) years.

there's no set way to rebuild, but the absolute key is to have a vision and it's clear that Isiah's vision is either broken or he never had one to begin with.

my version would involve lots of lotto picks and having a defensive team built around a few scorers. you don't need to get under the cap, but it's hard to do it without lotto picks.

Not this.

What I hear guys saying is that its all about this coming summer. Isiah will do a big trade, probably involving Frye, and bring in Kevin Garnett. Then the Knicks will be "rebuilt".

Under that theory, the rest of this season doesn't matter.

I think Scott Layden had a plan of drafting Yao Ming. I don't think you can plan to trade for a KG. Even if things dont workout in Minnesota, I would fire Mchale and have someone re-do the team. There is nothing on NY that really interests me anyway.

i agree, let somebody else come in and make the decision of trading kg.

just like fire isiah and let someone make the decision of trading some of these guys away.

planning on building your team toward a player in the draft isn't wise. Unlike football, record does not indicate where your drafting. Rick Pitino is still blaming his struggles in Boston on the fact that he didn't get Duncan.

yup. we need to start this rebuild at the executive level. I know Dolan leaving is unrealistic because the Rangers are winning, but Mills has got to go if Isiah goes.

To me with this team, it means retooling around Marbury for at least another year (besides, nobody wants Steph's contract at this point anyway - we're the only stupid-ass team that keeps taking on bad contracts - every other single team in the league recognizes how important it means to their team's future be fiscally responsible except us). I've been saying that we should give this mess another year or so to see if any progress is being made before we blow it up entirely.

What's the point of that, fish, seriously? I had a stable position for years about Isiah but I've grown to realize that it's not gonna work. You can't seriously say I changed my position every week. Mine was more stable than almost anyone's for many years. But it turned out you were more right than I was aboutt his organization. Why can't we just respect each other with maturity? That's what I was trying to do for you and Isles in the initial thread.

you honestly believe bringing in Garnett would bring a championship to ny.. if so, you're dreamin... we need a franchise player either from the draft or a young studded star.. Garnett is not the answer.. he'll be 30 in MAY..
also, betcha assiah don't get him..
