Successful Scenario
Due to New York and Utah being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. New York and Utah had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Utah will do it because they get youth in Frye & Lee plus cap space with Rose & Taylor's ending contracts !! I know AK47 is a big name but they just might be willing to do it !! They would look like

UTAH
C = OKUR
PF = FRYE
SF = LEE
SG = HARPRING
PG = WILLIAMS

NYK
C = CURRY
PF = BOOZER
SF = AK47
SG = FRANCIS
PG = MARBS

Sac does it to get back to their run and gun style and get rid of a headache in Artest.

C = MILLER
PF = FRYE
SF = SHAREEF
SG = CRAWFORD
PG = BIBBY

But the Knicks will be better on the defense side.

C = CURRY
PF = THOMAS

PG = MARBS

Isiah Thomas will lead us back to the playoffs in 2006 !!!

this is lunacy. how about we start Frye and play Lee more---get a young lively shot blocker and either a long 2G or a pure 1 out of the draft to add into the roster for 1mm each?

Time for Eddy Curry and co to step up NOW.

Don't bother explaining why Utah would just give away a top 10 player...arguably top 5.

That was my plan. I wouldn't have made the Francis deal btw, there just was no reason to. It's downright rediculous chemistry-wise, not to mention it's irresponsible cap management however you want to slice it, but whatever now. I know we wouldn't have been able to make a run at LeBron or Wade because we still would've been over but WTF when does it end? What about the year after that or the year after that? Eventually we would've been in good shape but now... It's like they just keep pouring gasoline on the fire. And are you guys really buying all this 'going after KG in the summer' stuff we've been hearing? No doubt Isiah will try but I don't see it. You're right on the money with Lee Briggs - WTF coach play the kid!! (Brown's an idiot not to), start Frye with Curry and draft Hilton Armstrong with the Denver pick. There's the shotblocker they need right there (thank god we didn't get Ratliff - he's not nearly as effective as he used to be). Plus God forbid Curry turns into a bust, at least we'd have an Armstrong/Frye power tandem with Lee off the bench which isn't too bad - Armstrong's the guy for me. He's good insurance in case Curry never pans out.

Come draft night, I might even go another step and think about trading the lower 1st rounder (the SA pick) to a team like Utah or Seattle who have two mid to high 2nd rounders. I know you watch your share of college ball Briggs - you see some of the projected second round talent on some of these mock draft boards? We might have a shot at getting better players in the second round than with that low SA pick.

Do you really think players like lebron or wade are going to leave their respective teams? and if so, dont you think it'll be done in a sign&trade which would put any team in the running. personally, i dont think this spending mentality will ever end with dolan owning the knicks especially since $35+mil comes off next year that wont be traded thereby allowing isiah to once again use the other $25+mil in expirings to grab a big time player or 2, or to get more draft picks.

Why not? To come play for the Knicks at the Garden in NYC, the Mecca? Are you kidding? Of course they would (if we had cap room, Kobe would've been a Knick already). Only problem is that it's a business, these top-flight players need to get paid top-flight money and basically we'll never be in the position to find out because we are either unable or unwilling to manage the ****ing cap in such a way where we'll at least give ourselves a shot at eventually competing in free agency for the big fish.

its called a sign&trade. that way they can get MORE money rather than just going to a team with capspace. but these players arent leaving their current teams without their current teams being compensated.
