At least this is what Vecsey reported on NBA TV tonite. If this is true, then I think Isiah made a mistake in excepting the Francis trade over portlands proposal.

Wether you like Miles or not, he makes more sense and fulfills the need we have Sf (plus he's 24) and can grow with Curry 23 & Frye 22. Francis just adds more confusion on the backcourt. Don't get me wrong, Francis is 2x's better than Craw, but Miles makes more sense. Especially sense we didn't have to include Lee.

Francis is the better talent and has the easier contract to move again.

I would rather have Miles/Ratliff than Jalen Rose though.

Francis trade is better. Penny should be enough to get them both.

Darius Miles=Tim Thomas

Ratliff=Penny Hardaway (but more years)

And trading them a pick? No way- they should have offered us 2 unrestricted picks for taking on Ratliffs albatross contract.

Francis can be retraded if he plays well.

Darius is better than Tim Thomas. Before his injuries the last couple years, he has really been balling on 2 ends of the court. But of course the injuries themselves present a concern.

The Francis trade presented a much better value from a pure talent standpoint. Darius/Ratliff might've been a better fit for LB, but wasn't worth giving up the pick and forgoing the opportunity to get Francis for. And then again, if a guy like Ariza who would seem to be a perfect LB player wasn't listening to Larry, who's to say Darius and his history of attitude issuers would've worked.

Francis alone has more value than Miles & Ratliff put together... he's a proven Allstar & there's always teams looking to get an explosive scoring threat like him... Miles is an unproven young talent w/not the best basketball IQ... we already have plenty of those on this squad... i'm fine w/letting Q Woods get playing time backing up Jalen at SF for now... i'd offer up Craw, Mo T & SA's pick for Miles & Ratliff... the overall dollars are similar... & if they refuse, no big deal... we still got the better talent in Francis by making this trade... i don't give up Lee in any trade w/POR though.

This deal would be better than the Orlando one with no draft picks involved because Miles is a pure two way player who fits better. But he like Francis has extra personal baggage and both Portland players have long salaries. There is no reason we should have to give up a draft pick.

Miles may have talent, but do any of you really think he would flourish or get along with Brown?

You could say the same thing about Francis. And Marbury. And Nate. And Qwoods and half the team for that matter.

Francis or Marbury's going to be traded by next season... he's a proven tradeable & marketable asset... Miles is a big question mark & no one knows if he'll ever realize his full potential anyway... i don't view Miles as the longterm answer at SF for this franchise anyway... i'll take the proven Allstar & take my chances.

I don't know guys, I have heard that Miles is a complete loser from a couple of different places, and at the cost of Theo, why would you want that type of player on the court? The guy seems to loaf around a lot. Not the most of the current Knicks players are any better.

he did seem to be getting a lot better before his injury this year. and a player that can score and defend is a start. i dont think you can say that about any of our current players.

Why is Francis value high? He just got dumped for Reezy! Thats the talent aspect. The rest was money.

Vince got dumped for ending contracts & some late round picks last year... what's his value now? you don't think a contending team out there would want a guy who can put up his offensive #'s on their team for the stretch run? you don't think the Nets feel good that they made the right choice there? if you realistically want to trade for genuine superstar players like KG anytime in the near future, you need proven Allstar talent that you can give up for them along w/some good, young talent... we now have that to offer... it's all about gathering assets this year... next year you're going to see the big move imo... & this isn't because of that article talking about this that was posted today... i've been thinking this way since it became clear that the Knicks wouldn't contend for the playoffs this year.
