All the BUMS come out and talk about how great Ariza is and that Zeke gave up to much to get Francis because Ariza is a young stud with tremendous upside !!! Hell we got a top 10 player in this league for nothing !!!
Isiah Thomas will lead us back to the playoffs in 2006 !!!

Top 40 at best. He didn't even make the all-star team.

Ask the knicks accountant if we got a top 10 player for nothing.

The fella that retired under duress before AnuchaGate was the cap specialist. Isiah had him removed cuz he might have really told Dolan the deal. Or he had a nervous breakdown!

Don't forget the monetary component. Isiah can be a magician cuz he is buying his talent.
The key is chemstistry, not hording young gifted and overpaid players.

Nalod -

If Marbs is going to stay, then getting Francis is not important. NY is over the cap until 08-09 with Marbury anyway. Francis does not make it worse at all. If Marbs is traded, Francis takes over and makes a few mill less than Marbs.

Really, the money issue should not really concern fans. NY is OVER THE CAP! They will be until 08-09, at least. What they need to do is get players show expire by then too.

IT got another chip to play without giving up Frye, Lee and Nate. He got a former ROY for a washed up Penny and a #43 pick!

I understand the $$ and personality issues but talent wise....wow!

guys like Trevor are pretty easy to get. We got a 3 time all star thats in his prime for an expiring deal. Its a fine trade. It also puts in perspective what a fubar the Mabury trade was. Now I like Steph... always have, but we overpayed for him, horribly. This is the exact same trade we made 2 years ago, only we didnt include Nate, Lee, 2 draft picks and have to take back Grant Hill who just declared he's done for the season but will try hard to come back "in the future."

Anyway, its a good deal for Knicks IMO. It didnt cost us much.

I think the Knicks should look to move Nate for Reggie Evans. To me he's the guy thats the key to this working.

Finally a guy who understands how important it is the manage the cap the right way. Damn is it refreshing to read your post! And it's not like we didn't have a chance to either. Should've let Penny come off without making a stupid deal, let the rest of the bad contracts that expire next year come off too. I have no idea what going on at MSG anymore. Astonishing.

dude - a "cap specialist"? please. I'll tell you the cap specialness - get under the cap. when you have ending contracts - let them expire. Sign guys cheap. Dont trade short deals for long deals. End of story.

I agree. This definatly shows how much we overpaid for Marbury though Lampe & Milos came out to not have any value and we only 2nd rd picks so you can't put them in the same page as Nate & Lee. It would be more like Woods or Butler, Ariza, Nate, Lee, Penny, Taylor & M.Rose or right to JYD's contract if thats possible for Francis & Hill. To be exact. Isiah got those assets back but got them back by adding way more payroll.

We got Steve Francis for an expiring contract who doesn't contribute to the team at all and a 2nd rd draft pick. Ariza can flourish but a player like Ariza needs to play in a specific type of style to flourish. Larry Brown doesn't play that style. So do we keep Ariza on the bench and hope he develops a jumper and better handle and stop causing TO after TO. He would leave us anyway as a free agent. So its either Larry Brown or Trever Ariza. Q.Woods & David Lee make Ariza available.

I know we say this about every trade deadline & offseason. But this coming offseason is Isiahs career as a GM. Marbury, Francis, 2 first rd draft picks, Jalen Rose, Taylor, nate, lee, butler, woods, frye, Crawford & Curry could all be dangled in the right deal. Thats a lot of assets to do something to put this team in the right direction. If he can't get it done fire him and bring in someone who can.

I don't want this Kmart deal to go down but I think it will. We should just stop now unless we get a offer we can't refuse. Go after KG, Rashard Lewis, Bosh, j'Oneal, Brand? in the offseason. If we can't get any of those guys then use some of the assets to dump the salaries of Q, James, Crawford, M.Rose contracts. Also move up in the draft and try and pluck out a stud.

question is, if we make no more trades, who do we sign to fill the open roster spot.

Talk to me when the team actually wins more games then they loose in a given season.

As of now, my reaction to this trade, is YAWN...

Who cares, anotehr trade, another castoff, another headcase, another marketing ploy. This team can blow me. I arent rooting for a bunch of rejects who don't even try.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Good point about the Marbury trade. I don't care about Vuja or Lampe and never did, but the draft picks thing is a good point.
