There are always debates on whether expiring contacts can be usefull, expecially for teams that are trying to cut payroll. Being so, why is it so difficult for the Chicago Bulls to trade away Tim Thomas, who is making almost $14 this year? Why are the knicks the only team that can unload expiring contacts? We cant be the only team in the league that is willing to take on salary!

I think the Bulls want to let him expire so they have lots of cap room for next season.

We're not the only team willing to take on some salary, but we're the only team willing (& able) to go to nearly triple the salary cap (+ tax), or take on huge contracts like Jalen's for the sake of getting a mid 1st rounder.

Are the revenue streams really that much better for the Knicks than the rest of the league? The payroll disparity between the Knicks and the next highest team is becoming Yankee-like (without the success ) A few years ago at least we had Portland and Dallas up in the stratophere with us, now, we're all alone, while the others are going the other way.

you wont be able to say that after next season, $35+mil comes off the book next year that is untradable.

If Houston, JYD, and Shandon were able to be traded, you can bet they would be!

Seriously, though, we will flip Penny this year, and probably Jalen in the offseason or at the deadline next year. The payroll will continue at over 100M uless there is a change in organizational philosophy.
