When in doubt, hold tight--don't panic move

if we find a deal where we can do some addition by subtraction OK

If someone wants to give us love for an ending contract, and I mean player that makes a TON of sense + picks or combination of both-- OK

Don't F with hurt players with long contracts unless the team is offering 3 unrestricted #1 picks and is willing to take back some payroll+ MRI studies have to show the problem is something that can be addressed and managed. 70mm contracts are huge huge$ can strangle smaller
franchises must make them pay out the arse even to consider a deal

not using penny would go against EVERYTHING isiah stands for in terms of salary cap and making trades.

with that said, not making any move actually shows us that they're thinking and like you said, not panicking.

I wouldn't mind keeping what we've got. If you can use Penny to get a good package of players, fine. But if people are going to hold out for Lee or Frye, just walk away from the table. We have expiring deals next season, too.

i can see trading penny if it upgrades the talent and as long as it doesnt affect the future.

I think Denver will cave and ask little except the ability to get Francis.

Penny for K-mart will happen.

I think we shelve k-Mart and let him heal right.

the dark horse is what does Kevin McFail do in Minny? Bring Marbs back?

Its a starphuch for them for shore.

Cold we essentially do a Marbs-penny-Craw for Francis-K-mart-watson?

I wouldn't. The one trade that's on the table that I would do is Penny/Craw for Kmart/Watson as long as Kmart's knee checks out. Forget Francis. I'm reluctant to give up Craw, but Watson frees up Marbury and Nate to score more and Kmart can play D even if he can't jump as high as he used to. We need defensive players to surround Curry/Frye/Marbury. I dislike giving up on Craw, but he's been killing us this year. I wish Larry realized that we really only win when Craw plays well.

hes killed every team he has gotten significant minutes on. Larry does realize this - its Crawford who is unable to sustain effort.

new rumor

Earl Watson for Wells (great need-filling trade for both teams IMO). They do that the need for a Steve Francis becomes nil.

yes, but there's something to be said for not destroying a player's confidence. why start Craw all through camp and then bench him in the first game and not talk to him first?

as for the Earl/Bonzi trade, we're going to see a lot of weird rumors before the deadline. that could easily be fabricated by Denver to try to raise Watson's value. I don't think that trade makes sense for Sacto.

It goes against everything Dolan has stood for with all GMs. They work with the owners' approach.

I love Bonzi Wells game. Put him on a team with a strong leader and he is a great player.

I don't think that trade makes sense for Sacto.

why it makes sense:

Jason Hart is currently the only back-up

Martin and Garcia are ready for the 2 spot

Wells and Artest = redundancy.

Depending on what happens to Martin, Sac may be able to pry Nene in this deal.

Bonzi is injury prone. The guy came back and in 2 games he was back on the ir. He's been hurt the last few years.

I agree he is a good player but if wells is worth it so is k-mart.

The knicks would be pretty intense with Wells and k-mart when healthy.

The knicks have too many redundant players. Jalen, q-rich and wells are the same player cuz they like to do the same things. Knicks can't have 3 players trying to do the same thing.

I'm down for a revamp with an eye on the future so the logical thing to do is try to move guys who are playing for guys like wells or Watson and let penny expire. Try to make lateral trades like q-rich for Watson and lenard. Knowing lenard comes off the books. That would make sense.

Briggs- you are so right. I look at potential moves and I think- does this put us over the top? And right now, we are so far out of it that just about every deal ends with 'no'.

And I said it also about this rumoured Denver deal- they want to dump K Mart? I want at least 3 unrestricted first round picks. We essentially bought one for $15m with toronto.

There are three guards in the middle of next years draft that Isiah will figure out which is best suited to for the Larry Brown dialogue
