I don't think we'll see any kind of trade before Wednesday at the earliest. there's too much out there throughout the league.
yup, i think this will come down to the 11th hour.
The problem is that as the deadline nears Penny's value decreases for the Knicks, unless Isiah is ready to just let his deal expire.
huh? as the deadline nears, teams who want to shed salary and going to be more and more desperate. Penny's deal is only going to increase in value until the deadline. he's worthless after the deadline to us, but he is the difference between cap space and cap hell for a lot of teams.
the key is for Zeke not to act desperately.
We'll I suppose any team who really wants to make a deal might feel more desperate, but I get the sense that the Knicks reputation for desperation is higher than other teams. All we have to do is look at the Knicks track record in trades for the past 5 years or so (name the last trade season where the Knicks DID NOT make a deal), the fact that the Knicks performance this year is one of the worst in its history, the team is WAY over the cap with some hope of getting under but not a lot, don't have a young star like a Dwight Howard, or Chris Bosh, or Carmelo Anthony (our rooks are nice, but not at that level yet) to to ease the pain of missing out on a deal now, and have fans and local/national media who have become increasngly angry/critical.
While we have a hall of fame/legendary coach, and young players, and a chance at getting near/under the cap in the summer of 2007, I have yet to see Isiah show restraint when it comes to the chance at making a deal, and you have to expect other GM's around the league know this.
Denver might like to move K-Mart, but are the DESPERATE to do so? Orlando might want to get under the cap and get rid of Francis, but do they HAVE to do it before the deadline?
I'm not saying it won't happen, or those teams aren't interested in making a good deal, but their pressures seem somewhat less thank the Knicks.
