Thats not a good move. Ive watched the Lakers a lot this year, and got a real good feel for Lamar Odom. He's a pure tweener, he doesnt play hard, he's soft non-chalant, kobe hates him you can easily tell. Kobe plays 20 times harder. We don't want this type of player anymore. We need substance over style. For example Id rather have guys like Mo Pete Raja Bell Matt Harpring etc.. over Ododm. These guys play much harder, maybe their numbers are not quite as good, but this is the type of player w should ONLY be concentrating on. Id much rather hav Steve Francis--even if we dont kep Steve his value is MUCH higher than anyone being mentioned.

I should say, unless we are getting draft picks for and ending contracts, I think I may just sit tight until end of season when more options are availble. Everybody wants to trade their junk right now. With 29 games to go, and the only race we are in is to keep out of last place, no need to increase payroll or panic trade now.

it says alot about a player when he's in a situation he doesn't like. he does seem to be content on taking a backseat to kobe and just going through the motions.

with that said, when he was in miami, he played great and was the key to their great run in the 2nd half of 03/04 and the playoffs.

but that's really one year in his career.

you bring back a player like odom if you're moving out some similar length deals in the process.

from what i hear tho, money is no option for the knicks this deadline and are making it known.

briggs, i agree with dj and you concerning odom in miami and odom on the left coast.... if odom came to new york his play would be much more aggressive.

the best trade for odom that i have seen so far is caseloads trade:
www.ultimateknicks.com/forum/topic.asp?t=14574

lakers will have to give up[maybe]a first round draft pick

the run philly is trying to put together will be no way to dump dalembart

Briggs-

You couldn't be more wrong about Odom. Put him on this team and he's automatically our best all around player. He'll help Curry and Frye on the boards, he'll be a great ball mover (and the teams best passer) And Larry Brown is qouted as saying "Odom and AK47 are the most underated players in the NBA. Brown coached him in the Olympics, and if he wants him, that speaks volumes. Other than Duncan, Odom recieved the most minutes in the Olympics

In Miami he averaged, 17pts, 10 rbs and 4ast. He can play Sf, PF, Sg and could play some center depending on the opposition.

After reading a number of your threads, I get the idea that you value POTENTIAL (colege and HS players with some promise) more than you do actual players that have proven thier worth in the NBA already.

BTW- unless your a legit post player or a spot up shooter, its hard to not only play with Kobe who dominates the ball, but he also belittles his teamates which I'm sure has taken its toll on Odom and the rest of the lakers.

I remember odom costing the lakers a game this year, by not using his head, simple play, his team up I think 4 of 5, the lakers had the ball with about :35 seconds, all he had to do was waste their shot clock out, instead he loses his mind, drives to the basket with :17 seconds on the shot clock and commits a offensive foul, that gave the other team new life and the lakers ended up losing a game they had well in hand.

With that said, Kobe is a hard person to play with, he ran shaq out of town, after that, every player knows who is running that team... Odom is not a bad player, actually an extrememly skilld one, and he is not as dumb as he tends to be at times, he hits big shots, and really has a great offensive game and defensively he is underrated...He is not that bad defensively..

There isn't a player in this league who has not cost his team a game or two. Even superstars make boneheaded plays. Odom would do well here or anywhere else IF you make him part of the offense. In L.A., he only gets the ball when Kobe feels like sharing or when Kobe's on the bench. In Miami, there was Shaq and Wade so even there, he was the third option. Odom is a good player and I'd like him here if it were possible.

I understand my point, but what I was trying to say is that his play wasn't a physical play but a mental play that cost the game, a mental mistake that players who are the better players in this league do not make, actually a mistake average players don't make, when you see that it makes you wonder what is going on in that mind of his at times, but I like odom, he is a fantastic talent..
