Penny
Frye
Ariza
Malik
cash considerations

for

Paul Pierce (PPG 26.4 | RPG 7.1 | APG 4.5)
Raef LaFrentz

- gives BOS cap space to go after Peja or Al Harrington in the offseason & a young future stud in Frye
- gives NY a legit allstar player on both ends of the floor, along w/a decent role playing big who can block shots

C - Curry / Butler
PF - Raef / Mo T / Lee
SF - Jalen / Woods
SG - Pierce / Q Rich
PG - Marbury / Craw / Nate
IR - Big Turd

thoughts?

adding Pierce to this team would in no way be starphuching! Was Houston starphuching when they added Mcgrady? Pierce is at that level and is a lot more durable. Larry, Pierce, Marbury, Curry, Lee, Woods would be more than enough

Despite my distaste for Pierce, Thats not a Starphuch.

Pierce is a higher talent than McGrady!

I would think your cap numbers are way off also.

Boston would be making a huge dump.

You would have looked at a Penny-Davis-Frye if they wanted to take a huge dump.

But there is no free agent blockbuster this year for them to run on.

the deals that do go through are usually the ones that are never talked about. Wouldn't it be nice if we wind up with Pierce! Boston is stinking it up maybe we can steal him last minute

Insetad of them dumping thier salaries on us, I'd much rather give them Marbury, and try to get and expiring contract, Gerald Green, and a draft pick.

You'd rather have Pierce and no Frye than Francis AND Frye on our team?

that's a tough call... Pierce is an awesome talent... put him next to Marbury, Rose & Curry & i think they have a legit shot to win the division next year... i like Francis, but Pierce fits our needs more i would think... & to tell u the truth, i'm almost more scared to lose David Lee than i am Channing Frye, for reasons not obvious to the eye (not saying Lee's more talented)... just a feeling i get that Lee will grow into a perfect team player that will become a true heart & soul type guy in the coming years.

no matches there unless it's part of a 3 way... plus i don't see Ainge being interested in Marbury at all.

agree with everything you said. Pierce is arguably a franchise player and I said the samething last year when he was struggling to adapt to Doc. Francis is far from being a franchise player and is on the verge of being traded for a 4th time

A big no thanks to Gerald Green, it may have been luck that kept the Knicks for selecting after Frye but that guy's has a lot to be desired. He isn't even ready for the D league yet.

Green is 19, has plenty of time to develop. But besides him, just getting Marburys contract off the cap and getting another pick in this yrs draft is worth taking a risk on Green, I think.

As long as the NYK can keep Marbury, Frye, and Curry, I'm all for getting Paul Pierce. And that's The Truth. Penny, Taylor, and the picks for Pierce and LaFrentz works under the cap. Or Jalen instead of Penny. Toss in Ariza, Bulter, Lee, Robinson. WHATEVER! GET PIERCE!!

at this point, if this organization trades frye in ANY deal, for kg, jermaine, etc. then this franchise will NEVER win anything.

Pierce does fit better with what we need- you are in effect abandoning the notion of rebuilding if you are trading Frye to get Pierce & LaFrentz. I personally like LaFrentz- but does adding Pierce to our squad make us a championship contender? No. It does put us into a position to possibly make the playoffs next year- but without this trade we should be able to make the playoffs next year.

We need to get younger & cheaper, not older and more maxed out.

If they want to do a penny for Pierce deal to save themselves money, he's talented enough that you do that deal. Otherwise, not really interested.

you guys realize, there will come a day when Frye will command big bucks, & more than likely the Knicks will not have won an NBA title before that happens... tell me the last NBA team that won a title w/young, cheap players only... it doesn't happen... you need stars to win titles, & Pierce is a bonafide star, there's no doubt about it... & as far as KG & JO are concerned, Channing Frye would be LUCKY to become as good as either 1 of those guys... i have no idea where that comment comes from.

now i'm not under any false illusions that Ainge would be looking to dump Pierce right now, but this is just a hypothetical should they decide to go w/the youth movement & build back up w/good young talent... adding Frye to their already good young nucleus would give them a very nice foundation... keeping Pierce there does nothing but delay the growth of their young stars in waiting... i have no doubt that they want to see Gerald Green grow into the player they envisioned him to be, otherwise they never would have picked him w/their 1st round pick last year... sooner or later, they're going to look to trade Paul Pierce, because that's the general direction that franchise is headed towards.

NY's situation is different... Isiah brought LB in here to teach this team how to win... that's not going to happen w/all these young inexperienced kids on the team... how many times do you have to read LB say that in the papers before you realize that's exactly what he's thinking? also, Isiah's job isn't exactly safe at this point & Dolan's patience is growing thin... if you don't think he's looking to make a huge splash right now, you're kidding yourselves... it's going to happen... the only question is, which player is he going to get?

& i don't care HOW much any of you say you're willing to wait 5 years for this team to grow into a legitimate contender, the NY fans want a winner NOW... but that doesn't mean you make stupid moves either... getting a stud like Paul Pierce is a move in the right direction as far as i'm concerned.

I'm with you TMS, it is a move in the right direction to get a guy like Pierce, the key is to pry a player like that out of someones hands without giving up all of your talent. It could have happened if we got Carter, he was cheap, maybe Francis now - but I would def take Pierce over both of them.
