Marbury got 12% of the vote--248 players were polled. Francis received 9% of the vote.

Congratulations Steph!

damn man....why don't we just take Marbs around the back and shoot him.....

Why do people continue to find ways to diss Marbs? What did he do in his past lives to deserve it?

Probably the same way you find anything to criticize Larry Brown. Some people just don't like other people. It's sad but true. How did people criticize Patrick Ewing!

Now you see why it is hard to trade him, people don't like him or his game.

You guys should read "The last shot" which has some ethnographic interviews with Steph and his family during his high school and junior high years. The skinny is that Stephon is a phenomenal player, but he's really a c0cky jerk when it comes to other players- very very blunt and honest. It's not that he's unintelligent (high high bball iq) but he is not diplomatic at all with people and enjoys putting down players that aren't as good as him. I'm guessing he was at least partly responsible for the rumored inhouse fighting with the likes of KT.

I'll check it out....

As long as I have been following Marbury, reporters have been going out of their way to write bad stuff about him. Even in High School.....Iverson is the same way but it took alot of years to kinda get that monkey off his back. Now you never hear about Iverson.....he hasn't changed and he will gladly tell you that. I think Iverson has earned the respect now on the court......I guess Marbs won't get that monkey off his back untill he starts winning.....

Wanna know the big joke about the whole thing? 12%? What the hell is 12%? There is another 88% that wasn't mentioned......

The whole thing is retarded if you ask me.

How can you be overrated when everyone thinks you're garbage? I thought overrated meant people thought more highly of you than justified

Nah most overpaid is Penny at $1 million per point.

Marbs is fine. My biggest problem with him is that he's below average on D. I really wonder how people will percieve him if/when he gets to play with an equivalent or better scoring option.

THe guy proclaimed himself the best point guard, and he is SOOOOOO loved by those former team mates! The guy is an arrogant SOB and his teams lose.

ANd he makes more money than most!

Framcis is a quitter, a malcontent, and bows out with headaches or does not get the ball.

That does not make these guys less talented!

Marbs before his injury had the longest playing streak going, and was playing the point with excellence! If he can get back on track, his rep will get better!

No doubt about the Ewing line. That guy was hated in NY. Blamed for everything wrong with the Knicks during his tenture, everything wrong with NY after his tenture and what wrong with their lives. The way people would talk about Ewing you thought the he purposely lost games for the Knicks. I mean from reporters, teammates, fans and people who worked for the organization (add Clyde and Albert to that list). Charles Dolan didn't care for the guy. The was called overrated, underachieving and waste of talent during his career. Now people refer to Ewing's teams with respect and try to put the blame on guys like Layden and Thomas for the shape of the KNicks. Now mostly now on Thomas. Funny how absence makes the heart grow fonder. Now I even hear talk of how great Grunfeld (who was ran out of town), Checketts (who follow him) and even now Layden. Nothing surprise me now. I want to see another another player come to NY and try to win in that city, that ownership, management fans and media base.

Start spreading the news
I'm leaving today
I want to be a part of it, New York, New York
These vagabond shoes
Are longing to stray
And make a brand new start of it
New York, New York
I want to wake up in the city that never sleeps
To find I'm king of the hill, top of the heap
These little town blues
Are melting away
I'll make a brand new start of it
In old New York
If I can make it there
I'll make it anywhere
It's up to you, New York, New York.

what some of you are missing was this was a poll of NBA players- they were asked- who is the most overrated player (i.e., the one player who is not as good as the hype around him).

Since it was open ended, you have the two most named players coming in with only 12 & 9 percent.

I'm sure that Tmac, Kobe & Yao were on that list- albeit at a smaller percentage.

This to me carries some weight because its a vote from guys that play against each other.

LIke I said, Marbs proclaimed himself and his peers spoke to it.

The hype for Yao is also justified but for different reasons. The world hypes him and he is just not that great given the EXPECTATIONS. He really is not mean enough and might not really enjoy playing the game. It was sort of expected of him to play.
