Older, I can live with. The third one you mentioned, we'll just have to see how it works out. The defense is something to be tremendously concerned with, but I have a feeling we can improve from within', and Francis can do better at it than Crawfish. Hopefully the shooting will come around. The egos part is a huge thing.

one, we DO need a sharp shooter off the bench.

two, our defense WOULD improve being that Francis and Battie (moreso Battie than Cato) play better D than Craw...although Ariza could devlop into a good defender.

three, Marbury and Francis are similar but Francis has more of a Killer instinct and Steph runs the point better than Francis to me.

four, We are older but we have a bunch of old guys coming off the books next season while keeping some of our youngsters onboard.

lastly, I could care less if Francis' and Marbury's ego's collide (although I don't think they will) as long as they get the job done. I won't even get into the Kobe and Shaq ego clash to make my point. As long as these guys get it done I could care less if their egos don't agree with one another.

Wait a minute! YOU more than anyone else kept saying we needed to do this type of trade for Francis. Why would you constant advocate for a trade that "won't work"?

What I said was id arther have Francis than Watson and Ratliff--thats a no brainer. Its a good deal, but that doesnt mean it will work. its not the way i would do things.

thats knitpicking. it won't work if you're talking about contending for a championship. Unless you bring in a guy like Martin. Defender, rebounder & shot-blocker. Denver is not giving him up with the way he's playing though

NO ONE move was gonna give us a championship. You need to start putting pieces together that can win a championship.

What he is saying is Briggs was pollying for this type of move. I believe his thread was 'why aren't we trying to get Francis?'. Then he went into how Francis is clearly the best player in the deal and THAT'S who we should be going after.

Not pollying, but why wouldnt i want steve francis over ratliff or earl watson? you know something was going to happen--so why not get the most talented player--does it mean its going to work? its just the leser of all evils to be honest. Im saying good deal--but i dont like the direction i never did. but if we are going to do this, we shouldve gone after ron artest and kenyon martin as well--go all the way

weve got the softer types rose francis we shouldve just given up frye and the picks for martin and artest.

But WHY are you presenting it as if there were only those two options. We've heard reports of many teams being interested in Penny's expiring contract and it's hard to imagine many teams not being interested in it.

I think you could say that some of the players we have are championship peices, just very few.

If he puts a detailed, thoughtful message into why none of our moves fit my description, I'll give a detailed reply. It's not worth it if he's just going to put an "evidence-free" 6 word post, though.

Artest is a bigger risk in NY than Martin. After this Francis trade and knowing we will never rebuild in NY I would give up Frye for Martin in order to win now while Brown is still here and Marbury/Francis are still young.

Good teams have a mix of good veterans and young players with talent and promise who will eventually become good veterans. We need to keep Frye unless we get a deal for a good player with no question marks.

If my boss gave me instruction WIN NOW at ANY COST, the first move I wouldve made was Frye for Artest--Artest is the one player who was on the block--who BY HIMSELF can change the face of a team W-L wise.
