Depends how you think of rebuilding. He is building a winner while ensuring we have a future at the same time.

Lets face it, Frye/Curry are the only one who have star potential amongst the young players we have. Whether they fulfill it is another issue. Lee is a role player at best and Nate is a novelty. Both are expendable.

True but I hope we can hold on to Lee if possible. To me he's a glue guy.

Frye/Curry/Lee/Nate is what separates this from the Layden years but at least those Layden teams played defense and year in every game. Isiah hasn't made one move to improve our defense

We need star players but we also need the glue/role players. They are just as important as the star players. To me the role players bring chemistry to the team. And someone needs to step up and be a leader.

Most teams that stay good for a long time don't have all young players like rebuilding implies. They have a constant mix of good veterans and some young players who will develop into good veterans

Hopefully Marbury, Francis, and Jalen Rose would fit the former category
and
Nate, Lee, Frye, Q-Woods, and maybe Curry, and maybe the players we draft this offseason would fit the latter

If we were going to do this stuff, we shouldve goine after Ron Artest. Ron Artest, unlike anyone we have, i a real NBA impact player. we shouldve just given up for artest---right now would you do Frye for Artest--the way we are now, i answer YES.

I wouldn't. I question Artest's ability to commit to anything in life. He couldn't commit to the Pacers this year. He can't commit to the game of basketball, saying he'd "retire after he won a ring." Artest just goes where ever the wind blows. I could see him hit a five game slump in NY, get criticized hard by the media, and then retire or demand a trade. Or do something even more stupid and be banned from the league. Frye has the potential to be a very solid player for the next dozen years. I wouldn't give him up for Artest. Nate or Lee? Yes, I would have but the Pacers got a better deal than that.

bottom line....if you haven't won the championship....you are in rebuilding mode......Even championship calibur teams change their players and add talent every year.....take a look at Detroit and the Spurs.

Briggs, you were one of the guys who said the Knicks should go out and get Francis.

I don't really like the trade, but like a week ago you were saying go get Francis.

if lee's traded, thts it for me...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I can't believe that Larry Brown doesn't love David Lee. Everything about Lee screams Larry Brown type player.
