Most teams that stay good for a long time don't have all young players like rebuilding implies. They have a constant mix of good veterans and some young players who will develop into good veterans
Hopefully Marbury, Francis, and Jalen Rose would fit the former category
and
Nate, Lee, Frye, Q-Woods, and maybe Curry, and maybe the players we draft this offseason would fit the latter
If we were going to do this stuff, we shouldve goine after Ron Artest. Ron Artest, unlike anyone we have, i a real NBA impact player. we shouldve just given up for artest---right now would you do Frye for Artest--the way we are now, i answer YES.
I wouldn't. I question Artest's ability to commit to anything in life. He couldn't commit to the Pacers this year. He can't commit to the game of basketball, saying he'd "retire after he won a ring." Artest just goes where ever the wind blows. I could see him hit a five game slump in NY, get criticized hard by the media, and then retire or demand a trade. Or do something even more stupid and be banned from the league. Frye has the potential to be a very solid player for the next dozen years. I wouldn't give him up for Artest. Nate or Lee? Yes, I would have but the Pacers got a better deal than that.
