Anyone remember the movie?:

Richard Pryor in order to inherit a fortune had to spend $30million (20 years ago mind you!) in 30 days and not have anything to show for it. Basically he had to "blow" the money and not spend it on anything that retained value. If he failed, he does not get it and the "bank" gets to keep it to manage in trust.

I get the feeling that Dolan is out to do similar with the knicks.

Stevie Francis? Big money with a questionable attitude and migranes.
Sounds like a knick to me!

Great basketball player, but does he fit? Is there even any thought to it?

This team is starting to resemble the early 1978-1982 clusterphuch rosters of ill conceived players.

Nothing. Larry Brown will screw him by returning a $10,000
deposit at the last minute.

I'm sick of this. Nothing particular against Francis, but I'm convinced the Knicks have no plan other than to trade for the best player available at any given time. That would be okay if the player fits into some larger scheme, but that is rarely the case.

I posted an article by Steve Kerr a while back that made what I think is an important point:
Ironically, the two best teams in the league – San Antonio and Detroit – operate under budgets that have forced each franchise to make prudent personnel decisions over the years. The result has been a stable environment that encourages team development.

The Spurs and Pistons both have built a squad around several stars, adding talent through the draft or from bargain free-agent signings. The thought of trading for Jalen Rose in midseason never enters the minds of either team because they can't afford it. But in the end, both are better off for it. San Antonio and Detroit maintain consistency and balance to their rosters, and that translates to better communication and chemistry on the floor.

What's the Deal Isiah?

What would you say about Dallas? Or Miami? It's so easy to credit SA for being well run but the fact is that they got lucky by getting Tim Duncan. On the other hand, we have been very unlucky with Allan Houston and McDyess.

There's a larger point. The situation reminds me of a kid with a rich dad who buys him anything he wants. As soon as he gets bored with his latest toy, daddy buys him a new one.

Is daddy doing this kid any favors?

Too bad Dolan is so inept. He is a likable guy.

The economics at MSG is bizzare. Its evident so long as there is a buzz, false or not, the garden and MSG does ok. A paroll so bloated is just not logical on any level!

Real fans don't comprise of the contributers to the bottom line. So long as the team is decent the numbers work itself out.

THere may come a time where we must realize Isiah upgraded using economic relief and this methoed is nuts!

Bono might have to appeal to the world bank to ask for Knick Relief of its debt! Maybe we can gain forgiveness of our cap figures and instead float the bad contracts into the corporate entity an float "Knick Cap Bonds" to pay it off.

This is the only way we can ever sell the team.
