From the article about AD in the NY Post today... (Thanks to bugmenot)
"With an older guy, when you break him down, you build him back up and he's going to come back at you," Davis said. "He's going to have that experience that says 'I've just got to keep going. I know I'm going to get better.' For a young guy, they tend to shut it down and get confused. And I think that's what's going on."

Davis said Brown and young players may not be a good mix at this stage. "I don't think Larry has had the opportunity to coach a young team where you have to really go into basics, pick and roll, roll with the ball, how to box him out and rotate," Davis said. "I know it's tough for him. But he's just going to have to break down and just teach."

This is interesting. If a person takes what Davis is saying to be true then that puts a different spin on why a lot of these players look clueless out there. It may not be an IQ issue with SOME of these guys. We may be just looking at total confusion. I think this would be the difference between some of these guys and a Derek Fisher, Smush Parker, Samaki Walker and a host of other Laker players past and present who have played under Phil. They get in a rhythm. It is a system that they must know and understand and that system does not change from training camp and throughout the entire season. Master the triangle and you're in a rhythm. Seems like here, the system is much more complicated and detailed and if what Davis is saying is true, Brown has moreso been breaking the players down and instructing all these things at once but not 'teaching'. Interesting.

It also means the young guys might flourish once they've been traded to other teams.

This is coming from the mouth of the guy who got more undeserved playing time from Brown than anyone besides Rose.

AD has finally put to bed all the "It's Larry's plan to sacrifice wins and because he is teaching the kids" BS.

Also, why don't we call LB's "Breaking Down" what it really is: Treating people like sh!t.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Larry should be coaching this group like a college team.

Then half of our team would be academically ineligible to play.

Nah, a 7 figure net worth enables you to waive those requirements.

I've been saying it for a long long time. he's a psycho. But it will pay off over time...but he's got to retire, if dolan fires this guy OR Zeke brings in more LB players (see AD) then it'll all be a waste of time...LB needs to learn for himself that he's destroying the ship and snap out of it...

Long story short, we should have hired phil if we wanted to barely make the playoffs and be happy with .500.

With LB (who I'm sick of, but hey, I've been at odds with all my coaches/teachers, it's just the way it is) it's about the future of hte franchise.

What makes us think that any of LBs other players won't end up like AD?

Keep the kids, see what happens...we're rebuilding.

That's funny because when they were in college they WERE academically eligible.
