Do both contracts expire after '06? Are both UFA's after '06? Given our cap situation, is the best we can do the league minimum or one of the exceptions?

If the answer is yes to all of these questions, I'd deal Ariza in a heartbeat. I think he's got very little potential to be anything but the small forward version of Bo Outlaw. I do like Woods though. I hope he's in our long term plans.

trade Ariza, i have no problem w/that... but in a package that makes sense for this franchise... not to get more role playing vets that will only take time away from our other youngsters.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Purple - if Woods was, in fact, a Larry Brown suggestion, I would think that he at least gets a long look.

Marbury, Jalen Rose and Qyntel/ Quinten doesn't suck that bad.

But just to reiterate these questions....

Do both contracts expire after '06? Are both UFA's after '06? Given our cap situation, is the best we can do the league minimum or one of the exceptions?

yes, to all questions. Ariza was our own draft pick, though. So we can match any MLE offer and force him to stay here (so long as we do not use up our MLE on another player. Neither player would get more than the MLE or even the full MLE right now anyay, though.)

So, to me, Ariza's trade value is next to nothing. We won't re-sign the guy...and he isn't ready to contribute any big minutes for us or anybody else & his contract expires.
