This draft blows moose balls. There's not one player that is can't miss & very few that can even be viewed as a projected core player on the next level.

-Rudy Gay - I admit, at times he looks like a stud. But he also has some holes (very slight frame, tendency to disappear).
-Morrison - I like him, but at best he projects to Wally Szerbiak at the next level.
-Aldridge - Stromile Swift, the sequel.
-I love Redick's game...but other than Briggs, it seems I'm in the minority.

So, that's 3 and a half question marks at the top of the draft.

By the way, its not like I'm super high on Curry. He's good for 1 block, 2 nasty dunks, 3 turnovers & 4 dumb ass fouls a night.

^^I am with you 100%. If Oden was in this draft things would be different.

Why are you in the minority? Who doesn't like Reddick? Actually, I don't think I've ever heard Briggs talk about him. And call me crazy, but I don't think Gay has anything close to a slight frame. He looks pretty mature for his age.

I like Morrison and Gay, but the real problem with Curry trade is 2007.

There are a ton of NBA scouts who don't like Reddick.

From ESPN:

J.J. Redick
Shooting Guard (Rank: #17) | 6-4, 190 | Age: 21
Duke (Roanoke, VA)

Draft Projection: Mid First Round

Positives: One of the two or three best pure shooters in the country. His shooting mechanics are flawless, and he possesses very deep range on his jumper. Has a quick release that lets him get his shot off in most situations. He's also a dead-eye from the free-throw line and has shown some point guard abilities this year for Duke. Has diversified his offensive game a bit this season and is now putting the ball on the floor and getting to the rim. Despite a general lack of athleticism, he's not a bad defender.

Negatives: He's undersized to play the two in the NBA. Combine that with a lack of athleticism, and scouts aren't sure exactly how his game will translate at the next level. Even though Redick seems to have diversified his game greatly this season, scouts seriously wonder if he'll be able to get to the rim and create his own shot off the dribble at the next level. Has had a few off-the-court issues that also don't help his stock.

Summary: Redick is having an amazing senior season, but good luck trying to find two scouts with exactly the same take on Redick. With the increased emphasis on shooting in the NBA, some see him as a lottery pick. "He'd be one of the top five shooters in the NBA right now," one scout said. Others claim that his game is so one dimensional that he'll never be more than a role player in the league and is better suited for the late first round, early second.

exactly, the 2007 season is the problem. reddick is listed at 6'4" which means 6'2" and 1/2 and is a SG with no defense, handles, hops, etc. a good late 1st round, 2nd round pick - but not lotto.

Book it....Redick is a top 10 pick this year, maybe top 5.

And as far as the 2007 pick (with no protection). If we are in this same spot next year (a brutally bad team that will have a high--albiet traded--1st rounder)....it would a devastating but also surprising. This can't continue for another year and a half, can it? Especially if we add whatever we add in the next two weeks & then maybe a Speedy Claxton in the off-season. Pls tell me this can't continue thru '07.

I think you guys are realizing that whoever gets brought in will be ruined by brown.

he's been spoiled coaching the pistons...q woods is better than this kid you guys are talking about...we draft him...would he even play (see jackie butler and david lee).

stop this rookie draft nonsense...until our coach plays kids, the draft is a waste.

i'm getting more and more fed up with larry losing games to prove a point.

I can't think of a recent lottery pick like Redick--teams don't pick undersized shooting guards who's claim to fame is their awesome stroke.

When was Eddy Curry going to become a free agent when the knicks signed him?
I want to leave something that's going to stand for a long timeI want to leave a legacy,I want to leave tradition.I want to leave an imprint,a blueprint in terms of how people play, and how they coach and how they respond when they put on the Knick uni.

Hey Knight...I agree, there are few precedents...but Luke Jackson, Chris Mullin, Wally Szerbiak all fit the bill. Given that these are all 6'7" guys & not 6'4" 2 guards, its a weak precedent.

Still, this argument will be resolved in June.

ahh...now I feel better...I had to vent...haven't posted in a while...I think the kids are gonna force larry to retire and his 80 coaches.

why were we better last year record wise?

I dunno...but I am in agreement...it can't be this bad next year...can it?

Morrison to me = Chris Mullin. I think he has the intangible and explosive scoring ability to have that kind of career. Don't sleep on his passing either. He flashed some good ability last year. Haven't see it much with his scoring rampages this year, but I think he can move the ball.

Reddick I'm more concerned about b/c he's a small 2 guard. Most small 2 guard's in this league get by on explosive athletic ability, or an ability to swing over to PG. He can't do either. The best shooters in the league in recent years have had ideal 2g size (Rice, H20), great athletic ability (Allen), or great length, wiry, strength and endurance (Rip, Reggie).

Some people are comparing him to Jeff Hornaceck, but Hornacek could swing over to PG and give you above average minutes there. I don't know that Reddick will be able to do that on the pro level.

Another concern is, will an NBA coach have the committment to make a 6'4 2g who will be a defensive liability a top 3 scoring option on his squad. I could see why they'd be reluctant.

At the same time, a great shot can buy you a very long and successful career if you can find your niche. Guys like Kerr, Dell Curry etc.

You're right, I cant think of another player like Redick because there have been few like him. How about he's an incredible talent with tremendous skill sets and the highest of iQ's. To me is a top 3 or 4 at the latest player in the draft.

This draft is under-rated, and it has a lot of really good defensive type players in it

I agree, I think if we keep denvers pick and the spurs, we can find some good talent there, I am not overly impressed with morrison and gray... Odgn in 2007 could hurt us, that is if we are bad again...
