alot has been debated about the players on this team and whether or not vanilli is the right coach for them. it's been a total cluster**** this entire season. but despite how UGLY it's looked, have we seen enough to say we need significant roster changes?

we really don't play any defense. i think alot of it comes from within and alot of our guys, heck, almost all of our guys don't know or want to play defense. is the effort a result of their confidence being shaken by vanilli? i don't know anymore. but they just aren't getting it done. in addition, we have players making the same mistakes every single night.

now, we are a young team, even if alot of $$$'s are invested in some of the younger players as well (craw, q1, curry).

do we keep this team intact and ride out this bad wave with vanilli or were these players going to have the same weaknesses even without vanilli? will their defense improve to a point where it makes a difference? i think that if we went uptempo and allowed the team to play to it's strengths (offense), they would probably look like golden state and i don't think anybody here wants that. we are trying to build a championship foundation, not establish a fun looking team that may make the playoffs and be perennial one or two and outs.

i think any legitimate championship level team is built around some defense, of which we have none. so that means we have to bring in at least 3 new starters of quality. could we bring them in without giving some things up? probably not. in fact, the m.o. has been to overpay.

what do you guys think?

if we want to make a championship run, we need to get a superstar- e.g., someone like lebron, kg, kobe, shaq, etc. and the best way to do that is to draft one. we have no shot until 2008 of being in a position to get this kind of player.

Don't worry we have the next superstar Eddie "No shot blocker,No rebounder, No jump shot" Curry to take us to the next level.
I want to leave something that's going to stand for a long timeI want to leave a legacy,I want to leave tradition.I want to leave an imprint,a blueprint in terms of how people play, and how they coach and how they respond when they put on the Knick uni.

it'd be nice if we had Marbury to take us back to semi-respectability.

i don't know what Dolan's edict for THIS season is, but if I were calling the shots I would wait until to Marbury comes back to evaluate what we have here. it's not like we can move Marbury over the next three seasons and he's also our best player and only PG. if you can get Watson for a fair price, that's fine, but I wouldn't make any move that compromises the youth we have here.

i think this team lacks almost everything you need to win

A championship team needs 2 great all around players, balance on both ends, mental intensity, toughness, role players that fit, shot blocking, chemistry unselfishness etc..........

i don't think you can think championship with this group. you have to think win 45 games, be respectable, make the playoffs and see where Frye and Curry are in their prime in a few years to see if they are realistic championship pieces.

Frye will get better, he's a rookie. look at David West, look at Dirk's first season, look at Sheed's first season.

um...that was the point. those guys weren't lead men in their first season, nor were they thought to be. duh.

Wallace and West were lead men on the collegiate level. Don't know what Dirk was doing in Europe since there was no nbaTV back then. All 3 have more than 1 dimension to their game.

Frye was a jumpshooting sidekick to the guards in Arizona. These attempts to manufacture a front man out of him on the NBA level are funny.

If we play the cap right, and don't take back any salary beyond next season, won't we be in position to offer Lebron a max contract in '08, his FA year?
The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.

yeah, remember in the NCAA tournie when Frye sidekicked his way to 26pt 16reb and 6blk. such a sidekick!

the funny thing is, if Zeke were to trade Frye, you would be here three years from now saying what a mistake it was.

I don't think you trade Frye for just anybody. KMart isn't just anybody.

Frye carried them to that lead, but yeah the Illini came back. that's march madness.

And you're right, Kmart isn't anyone, he's got a rebuilt knee and one of the worst/longest contracts in the NBA. I would actually like to chase Kmart, but not at the expense of Frye. If Denver wants cap room they get Penny and maybe their pick back OR Ariza OR Lee at best.
