just like Toronto and SA. Even if we end up ultimately trading the picks or BUNDLING them to move up for one high pick. remember the Nets started their run with a trade for Marbury--a trade of their 8 pick for 3 lower picks which yielded Jefferson and collins. This draft has become a very interesting one, must better than last years up to 40 imho.

Great Thread starter!

Think Larry wants more kids?

We either swap some out, or use picks in trade. My opinion.

I'd rather be a pick whore and keep building, but not in NYC.

Picks are a nice conduit to a trade. Right now if they are 06 or 07 no big deal. In fact if we do something like trade for jaric, I would deamd two picks just like SA gave up.

I think you guys are still operating in a bubble of false optimism. What are we going to do with these picks? You guys trust Vanilli to play/develop them? You trust Milli to have an actual plan or just keep the smoke and mirrors going till he's run out of town and has a list of people to blame it on?

The ship be sinkin' fellas.

i think that LB was a bad hire for this team, not a bad coach---- they are tied in to him for HUGE $$$ and that it is possible they may talk him into retirement due to health problems after the season with a settlement????. A minor starphuc is OK, but if it is true and we start sending David lee's for 33 year old players, that we should throw in the towel because the team is operating in 5 different directions

Good call Nalod, You may be right about LB not wanting anymore "youngins" especially in light of his comments about the potential for trading away picks for a young veteran. Personally, I believe that this upcoming draft is a wash after the top 5 picks... There is no real superstar caliber players throughout the entire list of prospects. However there are some guys that are sure to be available at or around 12-20 that can help.. and are similar to what we already have on the team now.

Like- Randy Foye: Stephon Marbury (Steve Francis) clone, LB wouldn't want this guy. Then you have Hilton Armstrong (which may be a lower profile LeMarcus Aldridge, who really is in the Channing Frye mold of player) Richard Roby... good shooter, but lacks heart, reminds me of H2O without the savvy. (Its Crazy though, cuz his genes suggest otherwise K-Mart being his brother) Some of the other guards are just as erratic as the ones we already have.

Anyway, my point is Larry Brown might be justified in trading away the picks. If we can get back a young veteran on the cusp of doing big things in this league, that is an above average two way player; we'd have to make that move.

I'd start talks with Atlanta, not Al Harrington... but for JOE JOHNSON and maybe Josh Smith or Marvin Williams. Offer the picks and a combination of guards and an expiring contract.

What about a three way deal between Atl, Orlando and NYK

Atlanta rec's: Steve Francis, Deshawn Stevenson and Trevor Ariza
Orlando rec's: Quentin Richardson, Josh Childress, David Lee, Mo Taylor and our #1 Spurs PICK plus cash
NYK gets: Joe Johnson and Travis Diener

Seems fair on paper, IMO?

I agree with the WHOLE different Directions attitude. i see what you are saying about acquiring Jaric and getting picks, but that would depend on who we send to them wouldn't it? I mean If we were able to send Jerome James to Minny, wouldn't you be open to just taking one pick or maybe even none at all?

I would look to pull something like Mo Taylor for Jaric and Hassell. Fits under the cap, Mo is a big man who will help out and be a FA after next year, while we get a bigger defensive minded swing man who probably can defend 3 positions very well (PG, SG, SF), and a decent defensive swing guard in Jaric who can come off the bench nicely with Jalen or Woods starting at the 2 and it also lets us trade Ariza with Craw (hell maybe even add Nate) in a trade for Kmart and maybe future pick or a talent to develop like Hodge.

Curry/Butler
Martin/Frye
Woods/Lee
Jalen/Hassell
Marbury/Jaric

I doubt LB is totally against kids. I think he is moreso aainst Isiah doing the picking. I bet Isiah has heard on several occassions

"you left such and such on the board and took Nate"...
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

Isiah will likely acquire every pick in the first round from 25 to 30.
