Rumor mill

'Tis the season for wacky rumors and two involving the Knicks this week neglect one thing: They don't fit under the salary cap.

Both involve Seattle. The first has Penny Hardaway and his expiring $15.75 million contract going to the Sonics for forward Reggie Evans, guard Flip Murray and center Vitaly Potapenko, whose salaries don't even add up to half of Hardaway's. The second has Ray Allen coming to New York for Seattle natives Jamal Crawford and Nate Robinson -- whose salaries also aren't half of Allen's.

what would u guys feel about these trades? well working them so theyd work salary-wise anyway. i wouldnt mind getting allen but maybe thats just the uconn part of me saying that. any best of all channings not in any of these rumored deals.

I don't like either of them.

I would like to get Evans, but not for penny's expiring deal, and i don't wnt llan because he is like 32, 33 and makes WAY too much money.

Maybe if you combine the two deals, the salaries match?

there aren't enough roster spots to make the 1st trade... i'd take the second trade in a heartbeat.

I love Allen, but it's clear as daylight to me that his decline is coming very soon. He's putting up A LOT of 3s this season. He's a very smart player, but sooner than later, he's gonna start going downhill. If we're really desperate for a SG, why not Kareem Rush, who has played a little PG in LA. I know he's no Ray and not a star, but he's still a nice longterm player to have, and A LOT cheaper than Ray.

At the beginning of the year Curry made a telling statement.

his words were I believe: NY has no Ben Gordon.

Curry needs a smart guard who besides being able to consistently stretch the D, can make plays off the dribble for his big man. Unfortunately for NY Isiah spent his assets acquiring guards who while having the skill, lack the brain, energy, and spirit to make the necessary plays night in and night out. Gettig Jalen Rose was a step in the right direction. Acquiring a Ray Allen would be huge. I'm not a big Ray fan but we need what he brings.

And as for Evans, he is a great rebounder. We have enough guys who do nothing but look to score and nearly noone who takes pleasure in doing the dirty work. Unless Lee is going to get the nod at power-forward (which I'm still holding out hope for after the trade deadline), we need a guy like evans to start next to Curry who is seemingly allergic to Ajax.
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

I don't see Allen in any kind of decline now. He's averaging a career high ppg right now, and his percentages have stayed the same (44% FG, 39% 3pt, 90% FT). He rebounds decently for a guard and is also capable of getting some assists. Sure he's getting older, but at 30, he's still got 2-3 years of top level productivity left, and in the last couple of years he's been pretty healthy. And with the exception of our Allan Houston, we've seen pure shooters last VERY long in this league. A consistent shooter and no.1 scoring option would definitely help this team.

Problem is that with our luck, the second game after Allen is on the court for us, he blows out a knee and is finished.

I'm just saying its our luck of late for stuff like that to happen.

Start growing our own young talent.
