Successful Scenario
Due to New York, Denver, and Portland being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. New York, Denver, and Portland had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

====================

The Plan:

C - Curry / Ratliff
PF - KMart / Frye / Mo T
SF - Miles / Woods / Lee
SG - Rose / Smith
PG - Watson / Nate
IR - JJ / Malik / Q Rich

- run the offense through jalen rose
- have watson be a defensive presence & knock down open 3's on the perimeter
- miles playing on the wing runing w/KMart gives us a nice athletic tandem who both play D
- Curry at C gives us a low post presence
- Ratliff comes off the bench to provide shotblocking & rebounding
- Frye & Mo T backing up KMart give instant offense off the bench
- JR Smith, Q Woods & Nate provide instant energy & youth off the bench - the X factors

this team would be great defensively & be really fun to watch, & we keep all of our young guys worth holding onto.

No way. You are trading away the best player in the trade.
Marbury may not be a super star, but he's the best player on
this team. Who are you getting back that is near his caliber?

It would be one thing if you were dumping salary, but this
trade doesn't even accomplish that. You are bringing in
two more bad contracts to replace his.

I still hate getting rid of Jackie, but I think this is an awesome revamp plan....

This is formatted like a 4 team trade it is actually the Knicks making 4 seperate trades.

This would be fantastic as long as KMart isn't toasted. We also have to remember that Zeke has shown no indications that he will try to get under the cap. I think this is a far superior idea to Zeke's tradition of bringing in more Jamal Crawford/Jerome James types while passing around #1 picks like 40s

that may be true, but you're getting back some key players that would fill some much needed holes on this team right now... that resultant team is ALOT more balanced & ALOT better defensively... and you don't give up your youth.

Trading question marks for more question marks, I don't like it.

Knight very understandable but remember two things 1-alot of GM's don't prefer to trade question marks for provens, and 2-Youth usually equald question marks.

But the two best players we are getting back are battling knee injuries and had recent knee surgery.

I agree. If K-Mart was healthy, I wouldnt have much of a problem with this revamp. Its actually a good plan if Kmart is 90%. His knee is too much of a question mark at this point.

we're also getting back a young stud prospect in JR Smith along w/some nice complementary pieces in Miles, KMart & Watson... you're only giving up Marbury... the other pieces i'm sure no one here is going to lose sleep over giving up.

Some pretty good ideas but the only trade I see as a possibility is the JR Smith trade, which is a trade I propsed about a week ago.

Don't see Denver taking back Marburys huge contract. From what I understand, they are trying to dump KMart's salary in hopes of avoiding paying Lux-tax.

Portland also wants to get under the cap so I doubt they take craw. Especially when the have Dixon who is a similar player to Craw.

if nate, lee, and trevor are possibly on their way out...then there's no place for jr smith on this team.

how do you figure that one? none of those 3 guys is a natural SG... JR Smith is.

if the youth are going to be moved, then a guy younger than all three of them playing for lb isn't in the cards.

DEN actually saves money in that trade, but your point makes sense... still, i think George Karl will want a veteran PG who can help his team win now... Marbury was also a mentor to Carmelo in Athens from what i understand... i don't think it's out of the question to think they'd accept that trade... Marbury certainly doesn't come w/as many health issues as KMart, so they at least get some better value for the money they spend as well.

Nate & Lee are still in my plan... this isn't what i think LB will do... this plan is what i would do & what i think is fundamentally realistic to accomplish to revamp this team's roster.

Hard to picture Marbury and Miller coexisting in the same backcourt.

actually, i think that would make a pretty nice backcourt myself... both of them are good distributors, but Marbury's a more explosive scorer... put Melo into the mix as the other primary scoring option, along w/Camby doing what he does in the frontcourt, & Nene stepping into the PF role once he gets back healthy... i think that's a nice team right there personally.
