2 years ago, K-Mart wanted to resign with the Nets for big bucks.
Nets decided he wasn't worth it and let him walk.
At the time, Nets looked like they lost out on that decision,
but time has shown that they were 100% right not to overpay for him.
And they made their decision WITHOUT the benefit of hindsight.

So here we stand, WITH the benefit of hindsight, looking the fact
square in the face that he's oft injured and his talent is not worth
the money. Yet we sit here and still entertain the thought of
bringing in his sh!t azz contract (FIVE more years),
and throwing ourselves deeper into the hole!
Throw good money after bad and we'll never get out!

No more numbskull moves!

This is not to knock your post, becuase I think in strict terms you are right, but a LOT of the decision to not have KMart back was a financial one, and after that the Nets got lucky in hindsight cause KMart has been hurt.

IF, and it's a big if, the Nets had not taken on the contract of Zo, you might have seen them resign Kenyon.

If the Knicks don't give up too much to get Kenyon/Watson, say like Jamal/Q and Penny+Ariza, because they don't care about cap, this may be a good deal. You never know.

good point, but the nets really need this guy and while they saved money, they are not giving themselves the best chance to win, while kidd still has gas in the tank....

They didn't just "save money." They put themselves in a more flexible position. We are so saddled with bad contracts Isiah
has no choice but to take on more crap. I vote trade away the
contracts and start over.

And IF they hadnt signed ZO, Kidd would be in San Antonio right now and the Nets would have been back to pathetic organization they were before Kidd.

actually, rod thorn is so smart that if kidd was going to bounce, it would've been a sign and trade and they would've ended up with tony parker.

You can thank the Raptors for keeping the Nets relevant. After Kmart left, the Nets were pathetic. If you remember, the Knicks had a better record at the beginning of the year. Then the Raptors literally gift-wrapped Vince Carter and handed him to the Nets in the Christmas-like give and don't receive mode.

I think, secretly, that Rod wanted Kidd to skip to SA. Imagine Parker and RJ and whatever for a long time.

NJ's wing players: RJ and Vince
NY's wing players: Crawford and whoever is at the 3 for today

Its no wonder we lose by 20 everytime.

I would like to get Banks and Jaric in here. Pietrus too if possible.

We have good bigs. Curry, Frye, Lee, Mo, JJ arent perfect but there is a lot of size and skill there.

Our wings are SOOOO erratic and defensively inept. I think if we could do this somehow
Marbury/Banks
Jaric/Pietrus
Our fortunes would change very quickly and our team very good next year.

Jaric is almost out of the rotation now but Min seems high on Banks. I would be more than happy to depart with both picks this draft if I could land the both of them. Maybe package Crawford/Nate/Ariza/picks/Penny in some kind of package or 3 way.

Jaric is awful. No way do I touch him. Anthony Carter of all people have passed himon the depth chart. No thanks!

Terrible Post, frankly why are the Nets good just ask Rob Babcock?

Do the Nets get Vince Carter for Aaron Williams, Eric Williams, and Zo, and a Pick if anyone with a brain is running the organization, the answer is no......

That said they got him and have one of the best trio's in the league along with Kristic, not sold on their drafting of Wright, but Rod Thorn is a much better GM than our last two people and had the ability to make great trades....

Getting rid of a selfish immature point guard for a distributor
Trading a high draft picl for Jefferson and Collins adding depth and defense.....

The Pistons don't have an NBA championship had Jason Kidd been healthy, and the Nets would have went to the finals but they lost games 6&7.....

KMART on that team is very hard to stop,

I've been watching alot of Net games recently (got the nba package) and Nets are starting to play Antonie Wright a few minutes a night and so far he looks to be a good defender and unselfish. Plus he has a nice jumper. Who knows if he'll improve and start getting 20 mins a night but i wouldn't say he was a bad pick yet.

Then why didnt we get him? We could have put together a package like that.
Zo didn't even ever suit up.

They wanted first round picks. Nets had 3 and included 2 in the deal. Thats why they got him.
