if we can trade Jamal, Q and James now... we could get under the cap in the 09-10 season ... unless we want to trade Steph also then we would be good in like 07-08... throw Taylor into the mix and we are free pretty much next year.... so i say trade jamal as soon as possible for a player with a shorter deal...


The 3 players that we must trade for expiring deals - Jamal, Q and James.... if we could get rid of those players for some expiring contracts we would be in a lot better shape... must be easier said than done

actually i just checkek... in 07-08 as currently constructed our team salary would be $49,036,125... SINT THAT UNDER THE CAP@?!?!?!?... man one more year.. i can deal with that...

i guess it depends on who we trade penny for, and if we can get rid of qrich, malik, jc, or jj.

what realgm doesnt include are the options on contracts, so add Frye, Lee and Nates option and thats where we will be at, i think its around $54mil. The cap could be around $54 mil at the time, so we would be right at it. but then, are we going to resign ariza? butler? woods? also our draft picks will be on the cap. thats why you have to unload 2 of the 4 evils(malik,jj,jc,qrich). then you are looking at caproom in 07/08.

I think EVERY SEASON SINCE LAYDEN Knick fans have discussed "getting under the cap"

You're not *allowed* to give out more than six year contracts; so we'll *never* be more than six years away from being under the cap!

The 49,036, 125 will be occupied by like six- seven players. Last I checked, NBA rosters must have at least 12 players with an additional three on the inactive roster which means fifteen players.

Unless were going to have 7-8 players playing for free, its highly unlikely we'll be under the cap in 07-08

Good thread title. Now we're getting to the time frame we have to be looking at. I'm thinking the Knicks can be competitive by 2020 or so.
